Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is open to selling Shaw, 21, at the end of the season, Express Sport understands.

Mourinho publicly blasted Shaw for his commitment last weekend and suggested the England international is last in his pecking order for selection.

“Who? Luke Shaw? It’s difficult for him to be on the bench. Why? Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Matteo Darmian, with Daley Blind,” Mourinho said after the 0-0 draw with West Brom.

“I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.”

Tottenham already have left-backs Danny Rose and Ben Davies in the first team - but the former could be sold to Manchester City in a £50million deal.

Meanwhile, Everton are also up there with bookmakers Betfair at 4/1 to land the former Southampton defender.

I'm sure some of these journos flick through forums... that said I'd have him here without question he's still young and moving from a "big" club could be a big reality check and kick up the arse

Shaw and Trippier would both be great additions for either side

Shaw was really good before his injury and he's still only 22. I'd still be a bit worried about Mourinho's comments. You don't often hear a manager criticize a specific player about lack of commitment and ambition.

This is Mourinho we're talking about though :P

He certainly looked the real deal when he first burst onto the scene, but I honestly having been following him at United between his injuries and not following the league as much this season. Based on his Southampton form and young age I think he'd still be well worth pursuing.

Weird one though. Jose must have seen a rotten egg or something because on his day he is absolutely class. Or maybe he's struggling to get to full fitness and Jose is trying to give him a kick up the arse. Who knows?

Lots of counter rumours saying he's never been keen on Mourinho and that's the reason he went to United over Chelsea...

I'm with Aidan it's an odd one as I do take what Mourinho says with a pinch of salt and from what I can remember I've never heard of him being disruptive or lazy so not sure what to make of it tbh

I'd take him at a cut-price, as it seems there is no future for Garbutt.

Did he work with Koeman or was he sold when Poch left?

only worked with Poch, never Koeman. I would think Robertson on the cheap or Bertrand would be better than injury/attitude issue shaw. Plus shaw will be expensive, it's man united.

I really like Robertson, makes the same kind of runs as Baines did several years ago. Would definitely be my first choice (we should've got him before Hull and loaned him out) but depending on the money involved, I would be happy with Shaw too.

supposedly burnley had a 10m offer accepted for Robertson but Silva turned it down. Bertrand was sold for 10m, Shaw for 32m. Bertrand will be 20m Shaw even cut rate for what 20m? Robertson is the best of the 3 and cheapest.

Mou ripped Shaw a new one after the game in the presser

Shaw also look overweight

Further confirming we need to be looking elsewhere (ie robertson, etc)

yeah i watched that he really tore him a new one. agreed on that and the fat comment, this is a big no .

After seeing him size wise and Mourinho being so forward and public with him it's changed my opinion, usually take what Mourinho says with a pinch of salt but it does look like he's a lazy half arsed player

Shame such a natural talent being squandered... Next

One of the best young full backs around. That leg break really can change a player, and the wrong manager can be a nightmare too.

I think it's just a few circumstances which have hindered him.

Jose said many things, but the thing that really struck out to me was he was saying these young players are rich before they perform and hit their prime. and that effects them, and it's part of the game now but they have all the money already and don't need to do well and be motivated. That's what worried me most about this link, we don't need some prima donna rich kid who wants to mail it in.

I agree. There is clearly a talented footballer in there, it's just whether the player himself still wants it. He looked poor against us the other night but he probably would have scored had Williams not handballed it.

He is the type of player you wouldn't mind having a loan to buy option.

And why do we want Luke Shaw anyway? I can think of a couple of reasons and one is his lack of defensive skills.

Wow, such snobbery amongst the fans again.

Luke Shaw is far better than what we have in the squad at the moment. He's another player that is out of form, he's had some serious injuries and, providing they are not going to be a problem in future, then I'd certainly have him in the side.

Baines is done, as soon as fans can get their heads round that the better. He has been a wonderful servant to the club but, unfortunately for him, his age and injuries have caught up with him.

There are other left backs that I would consider over Shaw, that's for sure, but I certainly wouldn't be turning my nose up to him. A change of scenery and a run of games should see him find his form again.

What are you on about? It’s time for the end of Baines, he shouldn’t be our first-choice these days. To keep playing him non-stop and ruin his reputation is what would be disrespectful.

He's not finished, I think that's what he's referring to. But, you're quite right in that he shouldn't be our first choice LB

When I sway he's finished I mean as a starter. He just hasn't got the legs to be a modern full-back any longer.

Watching him this season and a lot of last season was quite sad.

Completely agree with you mate. That little addition makes it much more clear :)

So how do you feel about him doing a Lahm and going into midfield?

He's finished is what's wrong with him. We've ran him into the ground by not forward-planning at all, just like we did with the likes of Osman, Howard and Cahill.

spot on romey, this is part of the recruitment issue, there is no long term plan, just plugging holes that spring a leak after it's too late.

Ha Ha should have got him in January, too many top clubs monitoring him now. He,ll be twice the price in summer thats if he stays fit of course.

Top player. Very good and just because mourinho has it in for him means absolutely fuck all.

Watched him a fair bit and he has got everything.  Quick, runs all day, great delivery.

Mourinho will probably add him to the likes of matic, de bruyne, salah as players who he has dumped but go on to do well.

He’ll go to Spurs and Rose will go to United - Shaw will have played under Pochettino before and Rose will get the big money move he wanted last summer. I’d be surprised if there was any other outcome.

Never saw anything in him in the first place. Very average run of the mill player.

Agreed. I read somewhere that he’s got 3 assists and 0 goals in his entire career. For a supposed attacking full-back that’s hilarious.

Even Poch has questioned him in his book. Le Tissier has brought it up too. Hodgson as well.

Not that the last one counts for much, but the point is that numerous people have brought up his attitude and questioned it.

That he’s not willing to put the work in. Hence him being overweight.

I actually think mourinho is trying his best to divert attention away from the fact that the team are performing shite.

Alexis Sanchez has been piss poor but escapes attention. Shaw has been alright.... I watched that game the other night and he was fine.

Some players may give them impression that they aren't arsed.  I remember mourinho picking on Joe Cole a lot.

Shaw has lots of ability. It wouldn't be the first time that we have managed to get an unhappy player of potential and make him feel at home.  Arteta, pienaar.... but then again we had mcgeady and VDM

No doubt Mourinho has his own agenda (when doesn’t he?), but I don’t think that means everything he’s said about Shaw is invalid though.

I don’t think he has lots of ability myself, I’m in the same boat as Shukes on that one. He’s an ok player but he’s never been fit to lace Baines’ boots, and never will be imo. We need to replace Baines with proper quality and Shaw isn’t that as far as I’m concerned.

What i like about him is he is a natural.... very powerful runner and has great footballing ability.

I think like Rooney he needs to play all the time. He wasn't exactly slim at Southampton.

I used to play with 2 lads who were both at least 2 stone overweight for amateur football..... strangely enough they were 2 of the fittest in the team.

I think Shaw is ok but there has to be questions about his motivation. He’s only 22 and a millionaire but seems like he’s not the most committed and that’s what probably gets on Jose’s tits. They will want their money back on him and that’s a no from me. Sessagon at Fulham is the dream but I’m sure there are better better players than Shaw out there

So Wiltshire, Jones, now Shaw... Any more top 6 rejects we'll sign this summer??

Wilshere is actually good, but I agree to a large extent. You don't catch those sides above you by buying the players that are no longer good enough for them. You have to get creative, that's supposedly why we brought Walsh on board but he seems incapable of looking past his own nose.

Not sure it would be the right move for the money.  Has not played regularly since breaking his leg.  There has to be a reason for that.

Also so much has been said about his attitude so probably needs a coach who is going to be patient with him and believe in him.  Big Sam is not that man.

Interesting transfer? yes but is it for us? not so sure

Either way a LB is needed
