Cornish Steve
This picture is extraordinary. The US has a national highway system, with routes 5, 15, 25, ..., 95 traveling north to south (5 in the far west, and 95 in the far east) and route 10, 20, ..., 90 traveling east to west (with 10 in the far south and 90 in the far north). In other words, I-10 is the southernmost of the national interstates. Here's a picture of I-10 in Texas before and after the recent hurricane hit. New Orleans is supposed to be underwater in the next 50 years, modern Atlantis. It's sad really.
rubecula
we have lots of towns that have vanished into the sea around Britain too, so losing a town is no big deal historically, however the loss of life associated with this sort of thing breaks my heart.
