Sky published an article saying we've entered talks with Allardyce for him to manage us until the end of the season.

Mixed feelings, He'd likely keep us safe, but absolutely would never want him/be against this appointment if his contract ran beyond end of season

Me too; not sure whether to be horrified or nauseous.

My feelings:

If he's appointed until the end of the season, I will have a "meh" feeling - disappointing because it will feel like we're throwing in the towel for the season in terms of accomplishing anything beyond finishing 10th, but he would likely steer us clear of relegation, and we've actually looked relegation quality at times.

If he's appointed on a multi-year contract, I'm switching allegiances to Forest Green Rovers.

EVERTON HOLD ALLARDYCE TALKS

Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has held discussions with former England manager Sam Allardyceabout the vacant managers position at Goodison Park.

It’s thought Allardyce could be given the job till the end of the season if Moshiri can’t get a so called “big name” manager

We understand Moshiri has also targeted a top European coach and a Premier League manager to replace Ronald Koeman, who was sacked last month

Current interim boss David Unsworth is also being considered, but no decision is imminent, and talks with the various parties are ongoing.

It sounds like Allardyce is the last resort. I'm praying we get one of the other ones instead.

Sam Allardyce- Long time manager of small clubs who get safe, but limited results playing an ugly style of long ball. Has he peaked as a manager? Absolutely

Eddie Howe- Young, up and coming English manager who has gotten solid results with Bournemouth (Although they look in trouble this year) and has gotten his players to play an attacking, attractive style of soccer with decent results despite being at a small club with journeyman players

Sean Dyche- Young, up and coming English manager who knows how to organize a side and has done well at a very small club.

Seriously, why would we ever sign Allardyce over Dyche or Howe, much less some of the more well renowned managers.

Allardyce with Shakespeare apparently.

Well, that’s got Walsh written all over it and is another reason for him to be thrown out on his fucking ear.

Please don’t be true. Please!

If this is true, Everton will be a total laughing stock. Such a move would totally undermine what I see as the ethos and long-term ambition of Everton Football Club. To hire a crook would send a statement for sure - that Everton doesn't care a toss any more about integrity, that we're willing to sell our soul to the devil for potential short-term gain. More than a century of history and tradition would be consigned to the rubbish heap. Please please no. Surely Farhad Moshiri has more sense than this!
