Goodbye To The Gravy Guzzler

Recommended Posts

He’s here now so I’ll get behind the team... again.

I hate saying that as it implies I am hanging onto scraps... which I am.

well if he steadies the ship and gets us results then I’ll be interested to see what he does in January. Moshiri says he has his backing and will help him bring in who he wants, so let’s see.

would be nice for a performance tonight in Unsys last game. A thank you and take care from the players while also showing their new boss watching what they can do.

COYBs!

Big Sam's in and that is that-Everyone is fucked off but then again we have all been angered by every single performance this season. Time to put the past in the past and get behind Sam and the team.

This appointment gives me massive massive doubts about the future of the club. I just can't help but think we will be the next Villa. The guy has won nothing. Has a track record of buying yard dogs and plays hoofball. Complete panick appointment in my opinion. When you look at the score lines Koeman was bringing in compared to the dross Unsworth served up we should have held on to Koeman. This is a massive step backwards and gives me massive doubts about Moshiri

To be fair the guy has never had the funds to spend- His most expensive signing was 15.75 million on Any Carroll. Buying yard dogs is what you do to keep teams in the prem.

I don't think we are in any position to talk about great transfer coups- especially after this summer.

Sorry can't think of a worse appointment. On par with Pardew. What a massive massive step backwards. We are in shit

Nobody else wanted it- do you think he was first choice? There’s a reason we left him swinging initially and that was because he was always the choice if we literally had no place to go. The fact that no one of any reputable standing would touch us should tell you alls you need to know about the state the clubs in. No he’s never won trophies but he’s not been brought in to win them he’s been brought in to keep us up.

You are summarising from what's been in the media. I'm pretty sure Dyke and Silva would have taken it if their clubs would have allowed it. If we'd really of pushed we'd have got them. From what I can gather we've just had no ambition to go and get a decent manager. This is a really really bad time to support this club

Watford reported us to the FA MC we were warned off. You’re summarising what you haven’t read, it’s no different and we’ll never truly know but 6 weeks have gone by- if they wanted Allardyce from the start he would have been in long ago - it’s clear as day we can’t get who we want so have had to take him imo.

Threatened to rather than actually did, right?

Either way we look at it we've ended up with a really poor candidate. If we truely have gone back to our 3rd/4th choice it shows what ambition this board have.... Pretty much none

I think Paddock is right. You've got to look at it from the point of view of Silva and Dyche. Their stock is rising at the moment. It might be at the highest it will get or it might get higher.

If either of them manage to snag a European spot for their clubs then they are surely going to be on the radar of even bigger clubs than ourselves.

If they come to Everton and manage to secure a mid-table finish then what does that do for their reputation? Virtually nothing!

If Everton were just underachieving a little rather than being in a catastrophe like we are now then we'd be in a lot better position to negotiate with these managers. But as it stands our squad is a shambles. It is seriously lopsided and it's not going to be a quick fix. Both Silva and Dyche could fail to fix the problem and completely undo all of their good work so far.

The long and short of it is; if I'm doing well at Watford then why would I go to Everton now when a move to a bigger club could be 6 months down the line!

Whoever we got they would have found the same problem.   A squad consisting of:  Inexperienced players, over the hill players, crap players, can't be bothered players, and just a handful of good 'tryers'.  Allocate names to categories as appropriate.

I’m not arsed one iota about his bribe allegations or whythe FA sacked him- it’s rife in football so lets not pretend there’s only a corrupt few. I am arsed that he’s not the type of manager with the style of football I want at my club but if he keeps us up I’ll make me peace with the whole sorry saga.

Whether you like him or not the board have made there decision, personally I’m just happy 😃 that we have a manager in place  now we need get behind him for the good of the club and help restore some normality in our lives because we couldn’t carry on the way we were my health couldn’t take it much longer.

The only doubts I have if he’s here next season is will better players want to sign for him due to his style of play.

Forgive me for being an uncouth new worlder, but can someone enlighten me on the hate for Lee?  I understand that he's a Red, but was there some incident or series of incidents that puts him in a different category from the average redshite?

Far from over the moon but as I've said in the other thread, I'm more pissed at the powers that be who allowed us to end up with Allardyce.

But I've no doubt he will get us winning and conceding much less. Like it or not, the Allardyce way works. He's quite a big character too, so he'll bring a bit of calm and discipline. It may not be pretty a lot of the time but it will be effective.

One thing I think is that Allardyce didn' want a deal until the end off the season then be dumped. So he's got an extra 12 months, probably knowing full well that come the end off this season we may well just dump him anyway and go for a preferrd choice. But he'll get a nice pay off for that too. Then he'll retire once and for all.

Not that I can recall; it's just that he was there a long time as player and coach so he's a hardened red.

He's fat,
He's round,
He bounces on the ground,
Sammy Lee,
Sammy Lee...

Scratching around for whatever thin gruel we can serve up as positives, I don't think Allardyce will suffer lazy, sulking shit bags who pull out of challenges and gripe at each other. He'll expect players to pull their heads out their arse and behave like men, or find themselves training in isolation.

Then he'll sell them all and sign 11 Kevin Nolan clones in January.

There are clearly some players whose time with the club needs to end in January or the Summer. If anything, I think Sam will do a good job of clearing out some dead wood.

I'd make Sigurdsson one of them

We’ve got to get behind him. Is not him that’s put us where we are at the minute is it? The man knows his worth rightly or wrongly and I’m hoping the club will seep into his blood like it has the rest of us. I can see him with a point to prove and would happily see him take us to where we  should be. Shakespeare has come with a good pedigree and I don’t get what the problem is with sammy lee. People would have been quite happy with rafa who has slighted us in the past. Don’t get me wrong silva would have been ideal and I’m sure we will regret it not pushing the boat out for him but we are in a total mess. Let’s crack on now

That harsh- you can’t hold the price tag over his head that wasn’t his fault. He’s been played out of position- he deserves a run in his precerred role in a team that’s at least cohesive

I’m starting to quite look forward to the Huddersfield game to see what sort of impact he has in a couple of days, I got a positive feeling that I haven’t had for a while I’m i right to feel like this or do I need psychiatric help.

Bolton (won 80/lost 80) and England aside he's lost more games than he's won everywhere he's been.

Very worrying numbers there! I hope the club have truly assessed him and not offered him the job as he was the only taker.
