Liverpool Derby (Our old stadium) Sunday December 10th

Recommended Posts

Call me an optimist but the one flaw Liverpool have is when a team parks the bus.  It stop their free flowing attack and pace.  That is actually one of the things Big Sam is good at.  I would go with the lineup below

                     Pickford

Kenny Holgate Williams Baines

Lennon Gana Rooney Davies Gylfi

                        Niasse

every midfielder can press and defend, Lennon and Davies to break with niasse.  Kenny Gylfi rooney to spray the long balls or crosses into niasse.  Niasse to just beat the shit out of their shit centrebacks.

Wouldn’t put Gana on he will be red carded  for mistimed tackles there midfield are to clever for him to contend with. Stick Besic on he will show more pace and aggression  and won’t allow them to settle.

Isn't Besic injured?

Also, Putting Besic on because you think Gana is a discipline threat is a bit funny. Besic likes a mistimed challenge himself.

I'l be hiding behind the couch for this game...

Likewise; no realistic hope of taking anything from it. Just praying we don't get humiliated.

For me, this will be a Dr. Who experience. As a small child, I'd hide behind the sofa while Dr. Who was on Saturday evenings. If my parents called from another room, "are you alright in there?", I'd answer, "yes, just watching Dr. Who." I wanted to watch but just didn't have the courage. That's the upcoming derby game.

This weekend was a free pass for the new manager. The derby will be his first real test.

My brother was weird on Dr Who, the theme music terrified him so he'd stay out of the front room until it was over and then watch the episode quite happily before jumping ship at the closing credits. Being a really kind bro I used to try to block the door at appropriate moments so he had to listen:D.

If it was Davey unsworth I’d say we’d get beat 3/4 nil. Under Sam I feel confident we will be in the game. We might not win but we will be in the game. It was the shittest under Martinez when we got tonked when the writing was on the wall. We’ve done something this time. 0-2  Rooney and Niasse

It was Unsworths team that won the last two games, and with clean sheets thrown in.

I don’t agree with that. I think a big factor was Sam sitting there and players realising that they have took the piss for too long

No doubt that the assurance that the circus around getting a manager in helped, but it was still Unsworth who chose the team, lead training, made subs etc

np Bill,  the players were bought by Koeman (and others admittedly)  other players were sold by him, leaving the team/squad we still have today.  Not really a problem by Unsworth, more a problem left for him.  If we say it is not Big Sam's team, it can not be laid at Unsworths door either.

Spartak Moscow were awful. Truly awful as if they didn't even bother. Constantly caught in front of the ball and with Liverpool's front 4 just running at them at will.

We're going to have to drop a bit deeper and have solid defensive lines, make them play in front of 8 players and they'll struggle to penetrate and use the pace of their players. But we HAVE to offer a threat in return, with Gylfi and Rooney we have to be looking at capitalising on set pieces.

Bombard them with corners, free kicks and crosses when we counter attack. But I'll be fuming if I see both our fullbacks getting forward. We need to keep our defence rock solid and spoil their game plan.

Keep the game level as long as possible. If they score early they'll run rampant, if we score early it might spur them on to work even harder. I think it's best to keep it tight and get them to settle in and possibly accept a draw. That's the best time to hit them with a goal.

There are many fantastic ways to get hammered, this is not one of them, although it may require us to get hammered after the match!

No, I like to start off with the agony of hope and progress to shock, anger and then despair before having a drink and reaching acceptance.

If it wasn't an early KO I'd be advocating getting hammered before the match!

Actually scrub that early KO stuff; buy a bottle of gin and set your alarm early:unsure:.

I'm fascinated to know how Allardyce plans to solve the conundrum of our CBs having zero pace and their forwards being lightning. 9 men on the six yard line maybe?

Holgates the only one with pace and he’s a bit nervy.

i think Baines would get slaughtered here. I can’t tell if Cuco is fast because he jogs half heartedly to everything 😂

Fucking hell. I've been an Evertonian for almost 8 years now, a small number relative to most of the board, and I know to expect a twatting every time we play the Shite.
