Paddock
actually the land wasn't for sale that's the point. PEEL owned it and were going to develop it. We have apparently worked out a deal to secure that land so we have a prime target to build. That is a big coup. Funding is easy, Moshiri has plenty of money and great credit with banks, i'm sure Everton's standing now that he's cleared the debt, has good standing as well. The land wasn't for sale per se Mark but Peel had made it clear they would sell to us to add the stadium to the development. The funding is clearly not the easy part because if it was it would all be in place ahead of a deal with Peel where as it looks like a deals in place but Everton are not actually buying it UNTIL we get the funding. Moshiri isn't just going to pay 300 million of his own money to build it. The hardest part in all of it will be getting the funds loaned to us at an interest rate that wont cripple us and repayments we can afford and that wont hinder us adding to the squad. But he still has to borrow the money at a viable repayment plan and interest that the club can afford without if affecting it on a day to day basis Mark. The fact the funding (according to reports) isn't there yet proves it's not so easy. If it was as soon as the deal with Peel is signed everything can commence- when it's not, we've put a hold on buying it until funds are in place which means they aren't and we aren't 100% they ever will be or we would just buy it. EFC-Paul
We've (apparently) bought the land Pad that is always going to be the first step and its a massive one at that! Would people rather have a fiasco like previous times and the club to say we've got this in place and that in place for it all to fall flat on its face, this time if true we've actually taken a huge step forward and purchased a site the rest will follow

Newty82
It's step one. I guess it all can't happen at once. Has to be bit by bit. Good old Twitter eh. And to be fair to the club, none of the noise has come from within. At least we now know that the club definitely intends to build on the docks. That one can be put to bed. Lowensda
Peel Holdings initially gave Everton a ball-park figure of £30m for the site, which forms part of a £5.5bn regeneration project the company has planned and called Liverpool Waters. The final price is expected to be lower, with Everton only acquiring the land once funding for the stadium is in place. Kings Docks MK II? Shukes
Surely they have some idea if it will be accepted or not before they agreed to buy the land. This is Everton though.

You would seriously hope so. Are we seriously expecting that lot not to spend time putting up objections to the planning permission? Then when Joe goes we could be left with a lemon? aaron
Some of the Stadium name shouts on twitter have been brilliant: "The Ketihad Stadium" "Scallianz Arena" one even suggested we name a stand after Joe Anderson: "the Pie Crust Snorting Wizard End" Honestly though, something simple like Bramley Moore Dock Stadium being the actual name then selling the naming rights is more likely. London Blue
There is no way we would have proceeded with this unless we knew that the finances are in place, and the planning permission was likely to be granted. Morishi is to smart to do this any other way.

Paddock
Council have offered to go guarantor for the loan but it has to go to the committee for vote before it can be sanctioned. 14 million a year for 40 years, so we'll fund the lot ourselves. Certainly not close to being done but things seem to be in place.
