I really hope that we have a clause to buy the lad. I know what he’s said, but Lukaku said the same and stayed way past his 1 season loan. Can we get lucky twice?

There’s no clause- Silva has said there isn’t hopefully he loves it here and we offer Chelsea enough money to tempt them- IF he continues to impress.

Did we have one for Lukaku? Can’t remember now

I agree, only if he continues to do well. Not well enough that he’d go back to Chelsea but we’ll enough to prove himself and go on the following season to be a superstar with us :)

No we didn't.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how comfortable he's been on the ball more than anything. Watching him on loan last season and he just looked like a lumbering, typical old-school defender. He even looked like he was running in quicksand. But in his handful of appearances with us he's looked at ease on the ball and like he has a good burst of speed to get himself out of trouble.

i think the reason he looked iffy at stoke is they kept playing a back 3, it seems he's more comfortable in a back 4.  the thing i've noticed about Zouma is he could play basketball with the leap he has.  I swear he is a foot above anyone near him on every defensive header, the lad wins them all!

He was coming back from an awful injury last season in a very poor team which could have attributed.

I’ve got a feeling that he could be in Chelsea’s long term plans with Cahill on his last legs, Luiz getting on a bit (and looking dodgy!) only leaving Rüdiger and Christensen as ‘senior’ centre backs unless Sarri eventually sees Azpilacueta as a centre back option too. Zouma certainly looked good enough before his injury.

I’ve always liked him- I think he’s going to be a fantastic player in a couple of years. He’s strong, quick ( but not rapid tbf) and he is good on the ball. Stoke were just dreadful last season.

That’s why I thought he did well with Holgate, they balance each other out well

cahill out the door, luiz is over the hill and not great, they have christensen (not proven much) and rudiger (also not proven much), zouma would honestly walk back into that side.

Not sure he would mark. They will be looking for a top quality CB and I'm not sure Zouma would be happy playing second fiddle at his age. Needs to realise his level.

I can’t see any player at Chelsea planning long term. They are a mess behind the scenes. If a new manager comes in all bets are off again. I like Zouma. Not a world beater but solid

Yes, but are we any more stable?  He's been by far our best defender and could easily get a transfer to another Prem club.  I hope we will sign him, but there will be others in for him.

I agree. Chelsea have better players there than Zouma, and will want younger potential. They will have him back if he is happy to play bench warmer for them.

Yeah was about to say that. They have appealed though, but not sure how likely they are to overturn it.

Didn't a CL team get banned afew years ago, Barcelona or someone? Thought they still made signings in that time.

Think all the three big Spanish teams have all been sanctioned in recent years actually. Daft thing is as far as Chelsea are concerned they'd still be free to recall players from loan, and they currently have 41 players out; so although a ban would stop them bringing in big money signings they'd still have ample opportunity to bring in fresh blood.

The appeal should allow them to sign this summer while still pending. I don’t think Chelsea will sell regardless - with Cahill going and Christiansen wanting away - Luiz probably only has another 2 years at this level... I see Zouma getting a chance there.

I don’t purely because they will want to spend once the ban gets postponed, like Barca. If anything it will give us a bargaining chip to get him cheaper

If Zouma is getting wind of only being sold if the transfer ban is lifted, he should have take that as a hint, show them two fingers and request to leave.

He's obviously not wanted, they just want to make sure they have enough players to get by.

He can request all he wants, but it won't make a bit of a difference.

Transfer requests often help, but not always. I don’t see him doing it though.

His request isn’t going to change the fact of the transfer ban, so it will make absolutely no difference.

They can still sell players though, right? So if he hands in a request to leave, are they really going to keep a player around who doesn’t want to be there?

If they feel they need him then yes. Can’t see him pushing for a move if Chelsea say they want to keep him personally.

Oh I agree he probably won’t, but was trying to make the point that if he does it’s not black and white that he doesn’t leave.

All depends on who the manager is but they have an aging back line. If he’s guaranteed game time I can see him going back to Chelsea. I’m sure brands will have other options. Ake at Bournemouth I like but will cost probably more than Zouma

If the reason they won’t sell him is the transfer ban then a request to leave isn’t going to change a thing. The ban is still there, they still won’t want to sell any players that they can use.

His video on the Everton FB page seems like a goodbye message to me. He’s been excellent for us, and I hope he stays, but if he doesn’t then I wish him all the best (except against us of course!)

Chelsea’s ban has been upheld. Does that mean they can’t sell players?

Think they can sell, just not buy. Not sure though.

just came on to say the same.  Zouma would walk into a starting job with that team and is decent with the ball at his feet, i see him going back and staying there.  they need all the decent players they can get.
