Charity thread

Movember and what it stands for is important. However, it’s not the only charity that needs support. Cancer is horrific and doesn’t care about age, so to help raise funds I’ve shaved my head and ask you to consider donating to the following page, dedicated to a wonderful woman who sadly passed away a couple of days ago. She was 32. For both the men and women out there; get checked, seek help. Life is too precious to take for granted. there will be a video to come, and I ask you all to share and help where you can. I’ll share the picture if anyone is interested

Nice one Matt, my wife is giving serious consideration to doing the same (I would as well but nobody would know the difference🎱).

Good on you Mate I do support charities through my business this year I have already donated around £6,000 and have one more charity function to attend.

I find that going to charity events and only those that give 100% of the proceeds raised to the charities they are supporting, is a good way for me to donate to good causes.

And that way I don’t pay taxes on my donations which allows me more scope to donate more

I looked into that one, but since my sister had something setup already... is Mrs Mike really going to go for it?

Mate that’s fantastic. So far as I know, justgiving is 100% profit to charity

We talked about it last night after I told her you were doing it and showed her the picture, it's really close to her heart what with what happened to me then losing my mum and her dad to it in the last two years; now her brother's wife (who she adores) has had a recurrence of breast cancer which has this time metastasised to lymph nodes.

Still no full commitment yet, she's worried she won't make much money and is a very private person so would baulk at having her picture on the 'web (not because of the shave). I'll let you know.

The money is of course part of the goal, but for me it's doing something that is visualably noticeable, and so when I'm asked, I get to spread awareness. That's the most important part in my opinion.

Most of you wont know but I've had a full beard for the past 3 years. Today i cut it all off in order to raise awareness for mental health issues in men.

If anyone has any spare cash lying about please please donate for such a good cause (Movember).

I know im these uncertain times everyone is feeling the pinch, so I would not ask anyone to donate who couldn't afford it, charity starts at home.

Thank you lads.

This year I decided that I wouldn't buy the customary bottles of drinks that we normally dish out to our clients and their employees, instead I messaged everyone to say in stead of receiving their usual gifts that we make as thank you for their support of our company, we have instead made a sizeable donation to Crisis at Christmas on their behalf. As yet we have received only positive messages of support.

Great idea!

Hey TT, I wanted to ask if there's anyone able to support an event organised by both my sisters in memory of their friend who passed 5 years ago from ovarian cancer at 31. Nicki was wonderful human being and a great friend from childhood for both my sisters, for over 20 years.

https://www.ovacome.org.uk/fundraisers/help-jen-and-tori-to-make-a-difference-to-those-affected-by-ovarian-cancer

Or come join them in person, if you're around Hoylake for their event:

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/90s-night-quiz-and-disco-tickets-674462424267

All proceeds are going to the charity. Every penny helps and would mean the world to us and the charity as they continue to support those with or affected by ovarian cancer.

I’ve made a donation Matt, a worthy cause so many young women’s lives are cut short by this terrible disease and it needs to stop. I hope you reach your target because as you said every penny will make a difference to someone’s life.
