We need him on the pitch and have to hope his form comes back. Having a terrible game again. Can’t work out what’s wrong with him recently, or did he just have a few matches at the start out of his skin and this is the real Gomes? Even when he does get a sniff he's only playing for himself. We can't get any control of the game out wide because of the way Southampton have set up. Gomes is putting on one of the worst displays I've seen this season in a blue shirt and that's quite an accolade. Every time we go forward and space opens up we switch the play and allow Southampton to reorganize, often ending up going back to our centre halves. I think he’s trying a little too hard to influence the game. He needs to relax a bit. Good spell from him there on the edge, but a minute later gives the simplest ten yard ball away.
