McFadden doesnt perform on the left, and maybe that's why Moyes wont play him there. Personally I wouldnt want Faddy on the left, he looks much better and works formation wise better upfront. You only have to look at our equaliser against Blackburn to see that.

good footballers should play any position when asked macfadden doesnt perform on the left because he doesnt want to....can you imagine s gerrard saying to rafa benitez i dont want to play on the left or the right just in the middle....no he plays where hes told to :)

Well McFadden isnt being told to play there is he otherwise thats where he'd play if he started or came on as sub. Moyes must see that Faddy isnt a good left sided player due to his lack of speed, so if he's being played upfront he can hardly just wander over to the left and play there if he hasnt been asked to.

I think if he had any sense he would want to play there, its got to be the only position that he can stake a claim to. With Osman, Davies and Arteta all able to play on the right, He's got no chance of getting into the team otherwise.

As was mentioned above, he made a point of saying he wanted to fight Beattie and AJ for the striker role. Thats not a wise career move, cos i think Annichebe might get more games there than he will. IMO. :)

To be fair I don't blame Mcfadden for making his intentions clear about where he wants to play. He sure as hell cant play on the wing and he knows it. I cant remember a single decent cross he put in last season and he's no ryan giggs in the dribbling control department either.

The problem is he's almost as ineffective playing as a striker as he is on the wing, with his lack of height, speed, technique, confidence. He was signed as cover for AJ and BT and that's all.

mcfadden doesnt lack pace or skill....in fact id say hes the most skillful at the club he just lacks attitude...he could be v good but he needs to be in the team....and dont tell me hes not better than killer on the left. :)

Maybe he means he was re-signed as cover for BT and AJ

Yea I was Mark, I thought that would be obvious  . The most skillfull at the club? I'd have to disagree and point towards the just about every one of our attacking players...Osman, Arteta, AJ, Cahill Anichebe, Davies, Les Helm, The Tea Lady.

I would say hand on heart Killer is far better on the wing, he can actually cross the ball unlike Mcfadden who just runs or trots in his case (I think I mentioned he has no pace) into blind alleys. Kilbane's final ball isn't the best but at least he puts it in the mixer.Mcfadden just loses posession.

Secondly Kilbane will track back and defend all day to protect a lead, which as we know is something Moyes likes to employ. He isn't creative but he brings a massive work rate and he knows his job. The left wing is his natural position and he feels comfortable there which Mcfadden doesn't.

Lastly we all saw what Kilbane was capable of in our Chamions League 04/05 season, he was one of our most consistent performers and was instrumental in us finishing fourth. He may not be on top form right now but he's the best option we've got.

It aches me... that guys like Faddy gets paid more in a month than I make in a year, and he doesn't wanna play 'out of position'. Better I say, to be ON the field playing, than bench-warming.

football is a game of specialists nowadays. most players have a favoured position where they feel they play best.

their instincts shouldnt be overlooked lightly, if you wanna get the best out of 'em.
