looking at Daniel Agger

Recommended Posts

I expect this has come about after he played against England for Denmark.

The manager thinks that he will stay for at least another 2 years anyway.

What I saw of him looks good but think we have to get used to the fact that we are not going to be bringing anyone else in

Sounds like another case of lazy journalism where someone trawls their records of teams who have been linked with a player as soon as he gets a little recognition for an international. It went quiet on him ages ago if Moyes had wanted him I'm sure he would have tried harder to sign him before now if he really wanted him

Its seems that .....

LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez has made a £4.5million bid for promising Danish centre-half Daniel Agger.

Benitez hopes to tie down a deal for the 20-year-old Brondby defender this week as he closes in on the young player to cover for Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia.

Agger impressed against England and Wayne Rooney last week in the shock 4-1 thumping but Liverpool have been on his trail for weeks. Brondby are looking for £6m for Agger, who was also watched by Everton and Wigan during the close season.

Benitez is trying to force down the fee but may have to offer more which is why he is counting the pennies in his other moves for a right winger and a possible Michael Owen swoop.

Liverpool will probably have to sell Milan Baros to finance the Agger swoop, but Benitez is convinced that the young Dane is the right man to groom for the future.

Carragher has been outstanding but is expected to play every week while Hyypia needed to be rested during the last campaign. Since then, Mauricio Pellegrino and Stephane Henchoz have left.

Brondby claim the Agger rumor is bollocks. Of course they do... doesn't mean it's is.

Brondby have dismissed reports that Liverpool have made a bid for defensive starlet Daniel Agger.

The 20-year-old impressed many observers last week when he figured in Denmark's 4-1 humbling of England in Copenhagen.

His performance prompted suggestions that Liverpool had stepped up their hunt for a new centre half by lodging a £4.5 million bid for Agger.

But Brondby have revealed that The Reds have not even enquired about the youngster, let alone submitted an offer.

"It's wrong," Brondby director Per Bjerregaard told Ritzau about reports of a Liverpool bid.

"They haven't even enquired about him. The story has been taken out of thin air.

"It's a typical example of a paper not having something serious but wanting to be able to ask questions."

Liverpool are not the only Premiership club to be keen on Agger, with local rivals Everton and Wigan Athletic also tracking the stopper's progress.

Brondby coach Michael Laudrup is hoping Agger will stay with the club for another two years but reports in Denmark claim that a £5 million offer will tempt a sale.
