What Are You Watching?

Recommended Posts

I can't find Jaime's Spiderman comment but it was a nice prewarning. Feel like I've just watched a film based on Iron man's kid who wears Spiderman pyjamas to bed. One positive was the humour was better than the usual cringey Marvel stuff.

Rick & Morty

I'm not a cartoon type of person, but I'm loving this show.

It took me a fair few episodes. But I get it. It's soo much smarter than it lets on. Like Matt said, it's batshit crazy but weirdly, has some plausibility about it. Bonkers but brilliant.

Anyone watched Ozark on Netflix yet? I've heard very good things.

Ballers season 3 starts again tonight which I'm very happy about, great show.

Haven't watched Ozark yet but it's on my list. Ballers is great. First episode premiered Sunday over here. I like the direction.

It's Sunday night counterpart Insecure is pretty damn good, too.

Just been watching a documentary on You Tube. It's about Alistair Urquhart (the luckiest man in WWII). Taken prisoner by the Japanese in Singapore, he worked on the infamous railway (including the bridge over the river Kwai). Got and survived cholera. Put on a ship bound for Japan, got torpedoed and spent several days alone on a life raft. Picked up by another Japanese ship and take to a prison camp in Nagasaki, he was there when the atom bomb was dropped. When he was finally freed, he weighed six stone. 'They don't make them like that any more' hardly does him justice. When the documentary was made, he was 97.

Sounds pretty unlucky to me.

jaysus just like the nurse on the Titanic, she was also on the sister ship the Olympic when it was holed below the waterline and on the third sister ship the Brittanic when it was sunk by the enemy in WW1. If they ever met I would feel sorry for the kids.

Watched Dunkirk on imax. Very good film, like most Nolan films it lacks a bit of heart but the way he uses real actors and props rather than cgi is amazing. There isn't much dialogue never mind a proper conversation but it's tense and a real piece of film making

By boxing class do you mean all that dancing about in the ring, or do you mean a class fight with both boxers trying to punch each others head off.

Some of those class boxers would be alright on Strictly come dancing.

He means absolute quality Bill

Lomachenko is one of the best fighter's of the last few decades, 402 fights including amateurs and only losing two one in each respectively which he avenged in the amateurs and was robbed in the pro's

He should have a perfect professional record tbh

Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux or Micky Garcia could be some of the best fights we could see for a long time

I like the blood and guts fighting, not those who dance around and throw a jab now and again.

He gets stuck in mate but when he's avoiding punches his movement is unreal, well worth a YouTube if you've never seen the lad fight

anybody seen Guardians of the Galaxy 2 yet? I am waiting to buy the video myself. However I understand Marvel are teeing us up for a tie up with the Avengers and Dr Strange to come on board with it.

Yeah its great. Marvel having been teeing most films up to come together for a while mate, ever since Iron Man. Basically the "MCU" (Marvel Cinematic Universe) has all different heroes in. You have all the Avengers, Guardians, Dr Strange, Spiderman, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. All will come together in The Avengers Infinity War. Also included in the MCU is the Marvel TV shows on Netflix ( Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and The Punisher), then there is the Agents of Sheild TV show (these are unlikely to end up in the films but are in the universe).

And video? They still make those? :P

Marvel will get them back eventually. Very much doubt they'll ever get the X-Men back though.

Yeah they will, Sony own the Fantastic Four rights, with Spider-man Homecoming doing so well and him fitting well into the MCU its just a matter of time.

Fox on the other hand used to put out decent Marvel films, they dropped off a bit, Deadpool and Logan have seriously raised their stock, they have a few more X-men movies due out in the future too. The closest we got / will get was Deadpool fighting on the Hydra aircraft carrier.

Dabbling with the first episode or two of Cleverman and Being Human; undecided on both. Anyone got any thoughts on persevering with either?

That's a no then .

Watched Man Up with Simon Pegg starring last night; pretty much a British romcom which I'd normally which I'd normally pass by on the other side of the road rather than watch but it did make me laugh.

I'll be watching The Defenders later today, if you've watched any of the Marvel Netflix series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and IronFist) well this is their version of the Avengers where they all team up.

I hope JJ is in it as little as possible. That was one boring as shit show.

As was IronFist. Daredevil and Luke Cage were great. The Punisher is meant to be in the Defenders so that should make it even better, cant wait for his spin off show.

I didn't watch Iron Fist, so I can't comment on that. Can't wait for The Punisher though, that's going to be fantastic.

It started well then just tails off, gets boring quickly. The actor who plays him is abit meh, Finn Jones, he played Loras Tyrell in GoT.

A bit meh is putting it nicely. They should kill him off and focus on all the side characters.

Finished The Defenders last night, decent show, again not on the level of Daredevil but still decent.

Be a big shame if they don't use Daredevil and Luke Cage in the MCU movies, Jessica Jones (although fit) and Iron Fist are shite so I'm not overly fussed if they aren't.

Death Note. Netflix have managed completely missed out the story. The story of two immature kids who find a book rather than a battle of two young geniuses.

Watched it last night . They've ballsed it up big time. It's too emo and ridiculously unlikable. Ryuk is the only positive for me, Defoe nails it.

Ryuk was cool. That was the only thing I thought they might have struggled with, turns out it was everything other.

Just don't know how Netflix can produce quality shows like Stranger Things and Thirteen Reasons Why but then don't put the money into this.

The anime was emo! I remember watching the first episode and the guy goes on an angst-ridden rant.

Ozarks was a good watch on Netflix. Can't wait for a season 2.

I liked it, starts slow but definitely gets better and the last episode or two were great and set you up for season two

Looking forward to Narcos season 3 starting tomorrow

I saw Detroit at the cinema. I quite enjoyed it but it's pretty interesting to see how it's divided people.

Listening to Kermode and Mayo discussing that earlier, they think it's superb but they were getting some negative emails saying it was "out of context" somehow. Sounds an interesting one.

I've just come in from seeing Mother!, it was one of the strangest films I've ever seen. I loved it.

Heard Mark Kermodes' s review on it in the car today, he was very impressed but emphasised the fact that "mother" needed to have a lower case "m". Along with a big old fashioned typewriter style "ding" for the explanation mark; but it sounded a really interesting premise/movie.
