You'd have to say at this stage that Bayern Munich would be the team to beat :o . When was the last time they didn't qualify for the Champs League? Galatasaray best avoided until the late stages also....be nice to win the 50th one though, shame the final's not somewhere a bit more interesting, Rotterdam would have been nice....100% record there  !

A few more teams to add

Italy Fiorentina (1st round)

Italy Palermo (1st round)

Portugal Pacos de Ferreira (1st round)

Scotland Aberdeen (2QR OR 1st round)

There's a fan's website that keeps up-to-date info on who has qualified for what competitions out of every league in Europe. If you can decipher all the abbreviations he uses, it's at http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/qual2007.html

Does the fact that we are seeded mean we will play one of the qualifying teams in the first round?

Not neccessarily, but we will play one of the lowest forty ranked sides.

There are 50 teams in the first round, so would guess it will be one of them wouldnt it??????????????????????????

Long way off yet though, blood long summer this is already

After the qualifying rounds, when you add in the teams (us included) who go straight in at round one there will be eighty teams in total playing for forty places in the group stages. We, as one of the top forty ranked, will play one of the bottom forty ranked....if I understand it correctly  .

Save Bayern Munich for the semi final - 23 years on!

Lets just make sure we get to the group stage and go from there.

I am sure that after 2 years ago, there will be no such mistakes this time..

Bloody hell, that could be on that semi

Quite fancy a trip to Munich though :)

lot of english speaking people around munich as its home to the bavarian international school, which one of my mates from uni has been too.

Having seen tottenham this year i reckon we can get at least as far as they did because our stadium is more imposing.

Our first eleven is capable of winning the thing, no question at all, but to do that we'd have to play an extra fifteen games. Any sort of run in the domestic cups and you're pushing sixty games for the season...even though DM could, and probably should imo, play a weakened team in the Carling Cup )if that's what it's called next year). Need more numbers, more quality, luck with injuries and luck with the games the fixture computer gives us on the week-ends after Thursday night games. We can beat anyone on our day in a single game so certainly I think we can win it....but then so can probably about ten other sides.

Too true Mike, we need lots to go our way, but I think Mr Moyes understands we need numbers, Im certain of that, we've been sailing too close to the wind and getting away with it

My really good friend is playing on the reserve squad for Munich 1860. If I somehow could afford a cheap plane ticket he would let me stay with him. Unfortunately it would most likely interfere with school.

Lots of action this weekend that's going to go a long way towards fleshing out the UEFA Cup field

Today: another round of fixtures in Spain and Ukraine, last day of the season in France, Serbia, and Poland, Cup finals in Belgium and Romania (the latter of which will decide whether Rapid Bucharest is joining us in the first round again or packing off to the Intertoto Cup)

Tomorrow: 2nd leg of the Dutch playoff between Ajax and Alkmaar (winner goes to the Champions League, loser goes to the UEFA Cup), Cup final in Russia

Monday: last day of the season in the Czech Republic, Cup final in Switzerland

All 11 of those countries have one or more UEFA Cup berths still up for grabs

Several other leagues are finishing their seasons this weekend but have only Intertoto spots left to play for (meaning potential UEFA Cup competitors for us down the road), including Italy, Israel, Bulgaria, and Hungary

Thanks for that JD...except it was Dinamo Bucharest we played in 2005 (qualified for the Champs league this year), not Rapid.
