The Everton boss has taken a fancy to the new Mercedes CL and approached club bigwigs about getting one. But the class of car that particular model comes under would exceed his monthly motor allowance and Everton top brass vetoed the bid. Confidential undertands Moyes, quite rightly, fought back with the fact that Goodison misfit Van der Meyde was driving round in a flash Ferrari ... without even being a first-team regular.
