Everton chairman Kenwright insists he's ready to sell

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has denied he would not sell his stake in the club.

The Merseysiders are consistently linked with foreign-style investment, but, as yet, no deal has been struck.

"I meet people about investment, but it hasn't reached anywhere," Kenwright told the Daily Express.

"The fans say 'Oh yeah'. There is this image that Kenwright won't give up his shares, but it is just fantasy.

"If the right person sits in front of me and wants to take this club forward then I will sell."

Although Kenwright admits it is difficult to stand toe-to-toe with the Premier League's big-boys, he has no plans to throw in the towel.

"We are moving forward at a time when football is forever changing," he continued. "Managers are changing, chairmen are changing, investors are coming in.

"We are not in a position where we can recklessly throw mega-money and, at times, it gets very, very challenging.

"But maybe I like battling against the odds. Maybe there is something in me that doesn't like it easy - although, believe me, there are times when I would like it easier."

Was talking to a red taxi driver last week! A bloke probably in his mid fifties, so it's fair to say

he's seen plenty of good times. He wasn't a rs prat like alot of them, and was even with his praise for what both teams are doing!

His take on luckypool and their american owners!

Sure he's happy about a new stadium!.....but knows the cost will probably double by the time it's built.....meaning that they HAVE to be successful, they HAVE to win things or their going to be in big trouble.

He admits there probably isn't another team who have built such a reputation around a ground

as they have around anfield.......that alone could be a problem when they move.

He admires the way Kenwright is not selling the club to just anybody who has some money, and

admits they can't really depend on the Yanks hanging in when "they have to walk through THAT storm", they keep singing about.

British owner!, Manager, very large part of the team, local players doing well, the likes of Vaughan, Anichebe and Kissock looking good!.....That's the Blue side!!

The red!....Everything except a couple of players are FOREIGN!.....Even the dinner ladies are flown in from Spain to cook the food for the players  Big money invested and where are they? a couple of places and points ahead of us!!We would have beaten them the other week except for the ref!so we would be even closer.

The red taxi driver said what he wanted was more scouse involvment in the club!....less foreign players, who don't like the weather, the food or even the city!He knows without Gerrard they would be in big shit!!

So I say, hang in their Bill!.....take things slowly....do what's right for Everton!!

If a foreign investror came in be he a yank, spaniard or yugoslavian I would not be happy. The club might get some money but at the moment we are moving along nicely on our own. I'm very proud that we've got these youngsters coming through and Brits in our boardroom not some cheeseburger munching americans nor fat spanish waiters. I'm with Blue 250 - hang in there Bill until a decent investor comes in who will not fcuk the club up. Our youngsters wouldn't have a chance then! Its not the everton way.

IMO anyway!

its not the everton way? our previous investors may not have been foreign, but we were the mersey millionaires. we, as much as anyone, used to buy our success too.

now im not saying sell up to anyone, but i dont think for one minute bill hasnt had english/british investment offered too him. i appreciate what hes done for us (thou most of it was done by david moyes) but talking about liverpool bringing in spanish dinnerladies, everton have sacked the majority of their local work force to bring in agencies to run different aspects of the club. there has been a drop in our corporate support over the last couple of years, a lady called rita london "looked after" our corporate supporters for over 20 years, they had a very well known head chef at everton (he now works for wigan in their successful corporate facilities) both of these were sacked, as were the waiters and other chefs, to bring in an outside catering company. what money was saved by using the catering company was lost again by the drop in clients.

the bullens road stand will now have the front on show in celebration on Leict's architectural work (spelling). would they choose to drop all that advertising space?

my cousin works for in marketing for one of liverpools casinos, they were sent fruit baskets and an offer to advertise in Goodison, at massively reduced rates.

most of you probably wont believe me, but things arent so rosey behind the scenes at everton

The Spanish dinner ladies was just my poor attempt at a joke  No I guess not many people really do know what goes on behind the scenes....maybe that's a good thing sometimes.

Just down the road Norwich City seem to be in all kinds of trouble, like a lot of clubs they are looking for investors

Present owner Delia Smith has said"they would be mad to invest" :o ,because they would never get anything back.....like she says she and her husband haven't.

Nice one Delia!!..................As said in the post above, what goes on behind closed doors is a mystery to most fans, and probably just as well.

not just as well when long serving loyal staff are losing jobs for a cheap buck

Problem is what good would knowing that Everton were going to replace their staff with agency

workers do?.....their going to do it anyway....and a big new investor would do just the same.

Every company is trying to reduce overheads, rightly or wrongly by using agency staff or eastern europeans.

I've seen at first hand it doesn't work, so have a lot of you! What can the players do if things change behind the scenes and not for the better?....go on strike!

Who ever owns it can to a certain extent change it.I just think that Kenwright probably has Evertons best interest at heart, more than some Yank who couldn't give a shit about the club, but just wants his profit!

don't go bagging on americans!

well.. don't go bagging on ALL americans

true there are many, in my opinion, ignorant rednecks over in the states that are quite simply retarded for not appreciating proper football (not the american kind!)

but there are some down to earth americans who do appreciate football and the history it has be it in england or anywhere else in europe
