Alkmaar Fans

Just wondering for all you blues who went what your general feeling towards them was. We had alot of friendly banter all day long in the pubs around alkmaar and infact in the pubs when the game was on they were great too. Unfortunately which seems to be the way nowadays a few fans ruined it. After the game we were walking through the square and out of the blue 5 or 6 alkmaar fans ran at us and started throwing punches (tw*ts). Me and my mates got split up and the police wouldn't do anything. We didnt want them to find the alkmaar fans, just help us out and find our mates. Anyway sorry to go on but these 5 hooligans ruined my opinion of the Alkmaar fans.

My experience of them was good Adam although was only in Alkmaar for a few hours then went back to Amsterdam when i realised the chances of getting a ticket was nil. Was actually in the Alkmaar fans bar in "the square" for a short time (accidently) and there didn't appear to be any animosity.

That said, a mate of mine knows some Newcastle fans who went there last season and he said there was loads of trouble plus there was a few police vans in the square and quite a few at the train station so they must have some kind of reputation.

Suppose all teams have their knobheads and it's a shame that your experience was marred by a few pricks!
