Yobo, Yak & Pienaar

Recommended Posts

Drew with Angola, and right now they are getting pounded 3-0 by Tunisia, which will leave them last on goal differential. They aren't totally out of it, though; if they can beat Senegal (a big "if") in their last match they could still sneak into second depending on the results of the Tunisia-Angola match.

Slim chance for the Rovers game if everything goes 4 us maybe????

Yobo and Yak for sure because their (potentially) last game is tomorrow. South Africa don't play til Thursday so not a lot of chance of Pienaar being back in time....the one time we could actually do with a Sunday kick-off we don't get it <_< .

The "good" thing is that SA are out barring a miracle and I can see Ivory Coast letting Mali get the draw they need to qualify which would put Nigeria out. IC would be delighted to see them gone because they're a much bigger threat in terms of winning the tournament than Mali.

ow well we will have to settle for just getting pienaar home asap id fancy nigeria to go all the way now and get beat by ivory coast in the final

Id say were missing pienaar the most to be honest, jags has done a brilliant job and we have decent strikers so the yak hasnt been badly missed.

So the long balls stop just because Yak plays? No. We played poorly for the majority of the first leg as well with long balls and Yak played then. We only looked threat once they went down to 10 men. AJ can't do anything with no service and neither can Yak.

Why? AJ didn't even get a chance because of the shitness of our midfield. Yak would have done no better because he wouldn't have seen the ball.

agree, i dont think AJ is a bad player. too many people think we're not scoring enough, we need a new/different striker in there...ive said for a long time evertons problem lies in midfield and i think my point has been more than proven with the addition of pienaar. that bit of class on the ball we needed, when he's in the side we play better and we create more. players like cahill, carsley, neville they have very little ability with the ball at their feet.

you can't expect AJ to score when the midfield can't keep the ball and use it, and because of that the defence bypass them, basically turning AJ into a winger, making him work for everything rather than chasing through balls now and then.

it is NOT AJs fault, I think, considering the playing time since Yaks arrival, he's actually done rather well and is a valuable member of the squad

that he is, you carnt score if you dont get the service.

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar, who picked up an ankle knock in training, and defender Tsepo Masilela, who is recovering from a pulled hamstring, will undergo late fitness tests ahead of the match

pienaar is coming home as it stands they will be out in about half an hour now id like to think

hope his 'knock' isnt too bad as he didnt make the team today.

now what moyes had better not do, is leave yobo out the team 'cos we've done alright at the back without him.....

it's been great keeping 2 successive clean sheets, but don't now go and leave one of our few world-class players on the bench.....

What? It would be mightily unfair on Jags to drop him just because Joey's back. Jags has done just as good a job as Yobo does for us. Let Joey earn his palce back.

Anyone have turned down two points a game while they were away? Against City, Wigan, Spurs and Blackburn? Three good teams in there, even though we could (should) have beaten Blackburn yesterday I reckon that's a result!

With you on that Mark. You don't piss with a defence that has just kept out Berbatov, Keane, Santa Cruz and McCarthy (comfortably).

ok, then let's extrapolate -- the defence remains pretty solid the rest of the season, yobo doesn't feature and decides to leave in the summer to get first-team football......brilliant

I think Neville will be out there regardless. I say we run the players in the best form. Assuming all become healthy...

Howard

Neville/Jags Yobo Lescott Baines

Neville/Jags

Arteta Fernandes Pienaar

Yakubu AJ

Now that is a lineup with some flair to it! :D

I'm liking the Yobo midfield holding role that Licker's suggested in the Reading thread...

Howard

Neville

Jagielka

Lescott

Baines

Yobo

Fernandes

Osman (if he gets back his pre-injury form)

Arteta

Pienaar

Yakubu

Wessells

Two of Johnson/Anichebe/Vaughan

Hibbo

Cahill

That's a powerful side.

I think cars is doing a great job at the mo and cant be taken out of that role

Dont agree, him and Cahill have not been up to anything lately they both need to be dropped

id play jagielka holding midfield before yobo, we wont pass the ball with him there at least jags will take a touch.
