He's one of my favourite PL players in an era. If he can do for DCL what he did for Kane, with Richarlison and James on either side, I'll need a container to move all the crusty socks moving back to the UK

Very good Premiership player - makes goals and scores goals, decent work rate - would have no problem seeing a player of his quality joining the club. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen. £17M doesn't seem a ridiculous amount of money for a proven player of his quality. OK, no probable resale value, but the type of player that could make the difference in top 4-6 finish or not. Although high enough, £120K isn't 'fantasy' wages. An 'Eriksen' in place of a 'Bernard' - yes please.

    Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

I think both Shukes and StevO nail it on the head. Even when Dom was scoring he wasn't getting loads of chances nor was he heavily involved in the game, however when he got the chance he scored. Those guilt edged chances have dried up and now he is playing the same way but without the goal threat. I also think you can get in a bit of a downward spiral. When James, Richarlison and Digne were putting quality balls into the box, he was making run after run because they will find him. When you have Iwobi stopping and starting his runs, no other winger that can beat a man and a centr

17 million is really nothing. At 28 even if we got 4 season out of him that’s 4.25 mil per year. We’ve paid more in loan fees for players at times than that I’m sure. (Lukaku & Zouma)

Wow he’s only 28. Would be a huge signing. Proven player in the Prem and would free up so much space on the pitch for James and Richarlison to do more damage.

When I saw that earlier I thought he had got injured again! I didnt realise his initial injury was that bad. It sounds like he and the medical staff have done a really good job of getting back to fitness. If the video is anything to go by he will be back for next weeks games.

    Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

I agree with all of what you’ve said Shukes, I think the issue is that Carlo told him to play between the posts. So if he’s not getting the service it makes it hard. When he goes looking for the ball he isn’t the type to beat a couple of players and score. Im not sure Dom can have that impact on his own, but I’d love to see it.

  12. Not for me, he looked awful before the injury It reminds me of when people talk about Yakubu and say he was great before the injury, completely erasing from memory how his form fell off a cliff long before that

    Isco

Obviously it's all rumours but apparently there's a bit of a fractured relationship between Isco and Zidane, hence why the latter is reluctant to play him (and has admitted so in his recent press conferences). Isco himself was caught a few months ago complaining about the management so I think it's a case of the talent being there but a difficult harmony at dressing room level affecting his chances in the first team. I'll be honest Real Madrid is a notorious hard club to break into. Dani Cabellos signed with much hype and is already out on loan, Isco is close to the exit door along

On the assumption he is the same player that played so well for Spurs then its a huge yes. He is essentially the player I imagine Walsh thought he was buying when he bought Siggy, ie an actual creative player and not just a set piece specialist! He was a little disappointing at the end for Spurs with the contractual issues and it appears it has been the same at Inter. I am not sure why that is?

  15. The problem with the January window is that there are far, far fewer options than in the summer. So unless someone really stands out there isn’t much point for a team like us. Carlo alluded to this in his recent interview where he seemed to be saying don’t expect much/anything. That being said I do think we need a longterm upgrade for the Siggy role. This could just be James but he’s never gonna play 35+ games and you’d have a hole to fill on the right anyhow. For me, a healthy-ish Everton have a good chance to make Europe so I would prefer to not do something rash. Look at some opti

Brilliant. And what an emotional ending with Hasenhuttl dropping to his knees in tears at the final whistle. Love seeing that type of emotion. Love to see the shite lose, but especially so as I really enjoy this Southampton side

  26. aaron rogers is the most underrated QB of all time, which is saying something. if the guy played somewhere else they'd be talking about him like they do Tom Brady. he's been so consistently excellent (not good, excellent) over his career. one year i think he threw only 5 interceptions the whole year, that unto itself is just unfathomable. i didn't realize you were up in MN, where you at? minneapolis?

    Corona Virus

i got into an argument with my brother over this just yesterday. his "who cares about covid" because it hasn't affected anyone close to him attitude is selfish, i told him so. he didn't like that and said "well there is a ton of bad stuff happening, you better fix that too". it brought to mind a saying from my old boss "you can't fix stupid". FFS makes me nuts this selfishness

  30. Congrats to you, Mark. As a Minnesota sports fan (and Everton), I know all too well the long wait for success. It has taken years off my life, supporting these teams that never quite make it there. Except for! My beloved Green Bay Packers! Grew up watching and loving them in the early-mid 90's, the only non-MN sports team I support. What a season for Rodgers, and, if he doesn't win MVP, it will be a travesty. Love that the NFC championship will be decided at Lambeau. Maybe a Browns/Packers Super Bowl??

  31. Agree with Gomes voters that he looked very good when he came on. But i've gone Doucoure, the last few games without Allan I've noticed him a lot more. He's making brilliant challenges to win the ball in dangerous positions then you see him up the other end looking to make something or get a chance at goal. An immense players and really shown what an important signing he is.

At the moment he’s still the best right back we’ve got, he’s the first choice and if someone wants to replace him they need to bring more to the table than he does.

Looks like it's happening based on reports. He's been a world class player, has a winners mentality, has had injury problems. No one knows if this will work out but based on no fee, significant wage cut and him bringing an element of experience, leadership etc he will improve those around him at Finch farm at a minimum.

He wasn’t past it for the first half dozen games of the season. I agree we need better cover and ideally a long term replacement for him, but past it is strong.

Davies dominated the midfield today (along with Doucoure). If Khedira come and had exactly the same performance people would say how well he's done, with consideration to the lack of movement in front of him. But because it's Davies people focus on the 4 wayward passes instead of the overall.

Sir Lewis knighted for his services to boiling peoples piss, lovely news to wake up to. Hopefully they rename Silverstone or build a museum in his honour to wind up folk even more (ideally located outside Nico Rosberg's house). The best driver Britain has ever produced, arguably the best to ever take part in the sport. His work off the circuit to make the world a better place is always forgotten but so important. His knighthood is long overdue IMO.

As this topic has obviously gone off on a tangent (like any TT topic worth its salt), I’d like to throw Ruud van Nistelrooy’s name into the mix. He’s so often overlooked because of the injuries and relatively short time in the league but he was an absolute goal machine and one of the best strikers to have played in the league in my opinion.

I always hated watching Fowler in the Derby, he was right knob at Goodison always goading the crowd and over doing it, he was a local lad who got what the games meant to City, but I hated seeing him gloating and he new it got to us. The PL has been blessed with some brilliant players we’ve lucky enough to have seen them in the flesh, one player I always loved to watch was Bergkamp he use to just mesmerise me when he was in possession of the ball.
