  1. This is bullshit. If we took xL (expected likes) into consideration, I'd be damn near the top 😀

    Marcel Brands (DoF)

He is obviously rated by the board and sees this as a long-term commitment. Pleased to have that stability. All we needed was him to leave to compound a shit show 👋

  7. No, just no. We are going to have to live with this nonsense until we appoint a new manager. Hopefully Potter or Galtier.

    Who talks the most sense?

To while away a few minutes I thought I'd indulge in a totally pointless and unscientific study into who gets "liked" most often, and thus who most think talks the most sense. The main problem with it (taking number of likes and dividing by number of posts) is that for probably the first decade-ish of the site there were no "like" buttons, so people (eg Bill) who posted much more in earlier times than recently get a falsely low result, and newer members who've posted mostly in the "like" era will gain accordingly (mentioning no names *cough Palfy*). But flawed as it is, the results are in, these are the twelve currently active people with the most posts to their name. @duncanmckenzieismagicA like every 0.457 posts @Shukes 0.397 @Palfy 0.379 @StevO 0.374 @Bailey 0.326 @MikeO 0.292 @Romey 1878 0.283 * @Hafnia 0.291 * @Matt 0.231 @pete0 0.158 @markjazzbassist 0.138 @Bill 0.092 If you're not listed feel free to work out your own and post it if you feel like showing off Edit * I got Mark and Haf the wrong way round.

  12. Dunlopp, Dunlopp, Dunlopp you’ve been around long enough by now to know zero is the amount of fucks I give about likes… although, being above MJB is a bit of a relief. Not sure I could deal with that level of embarrassment if I wasn’t.

  22. You are mate, just read we are going for Conte, I still think the former England manager Mike Basset is in with a shout at this rate, or we could wait for Gareth Southgate he’s going to be out of work in about 3 weeks🤪

  23. It's important to not let the media circus reflect bad on us. The media throwing names all over just shows that they have no clue. And, as I've said for years, it allows bookies to make a fortune. The biggest traditional sports media advertisers? Bookies. They work hand in hand. I'm sure we've been in touch with various reps etc since Carlo left. Just no idea who.

  24. There’s realistically nobody else out there. Although I’d be underwhelmed by it, looking at the bigger picture we need someone to come in who’ll be willing to start something and stay. Big named managers aren’t the answer. They will jump ship as proved by Ancelotti. That type of manager came too early for us. We aren’t at that stage. We need someone to come in and build a good squad get us into Europe then move up the ladder. Out of all the candidates I think Nuno suits us right now.

    Moise Kean

Another loan does us no good whatsoever, it's just another year closer to us getting less money for him. Either bring him back here or find a club to buy him.

  26. It may seem counter intuitive but the longer the hunt goes on, the more optmistic I am. It suggests the powers that be behind the scenes are taking their time and doing everything they can to get this right, which means appointing the right manager for what they feel the long term plan is. I far prefer this silence from the club (and the media blindly throwing out every name they can think of) to panic-appointing someone a week after Carlo's shock resignation. Watch me now end up looking like an idiot when the club panic-announce Alan Pardew as manager tomorrow.

  27. At this point in time I have very little faith in our decision makers, the last 5 years have been horrendous in reality when you look at the money spent, I’m a great believer in the law of averages which means we should get it right sooner or later, shouldn’t we?

  28. After Robertos first season I think everyone thought he was a good decision. Until about two weeks ago I think everyone thought Carlo was a good decision. We have made plenty of good decisions since then, but good decisions don’t always lead to perfect outcomes.

Not sure how Allardyce not wanting to be fired has anything to do with Brands being put on the board of three different parts of the club. It’s not even close to being even similar.

But Steve wasn’t saying anything about Brands wanting to stay, just that he is here to stay because he keeps getting more power and more roles added to his job description.

  42. Potter is a no from me. On the basis that he won’t attract top players to the club. I also just don’t think he’s a top 6 manager. It’s an opinion but I think he’s all wrong. The french guy I have absolutely no knowledge of. Again a massive gamble and can’t see a long sustainable stay from him.

  44. I'm only here for the Expected Likes 🤣 This bit cracked me up... 2. They scored (and were expected to score) 🤣🤣🤣
    1 point
  45. Quite correct! Thanks for looking into it, I was sure they finished 2nd last year and then couldn't understand why they were 4th. Now it all makes sense! I didn't realise Luis Campos left as well, although looking at the articles he is going to other clubs. I cannot see us removing Brands, especially as he is leading the search. It would be like a turkey voting for Christmas! Taking another look at the "lost" season, this makes me more positive on him. 3 solid years with a side that should be challenging for those positions with the quality in the squad. That sounds like a slight but clearly the guys before him couldn't do it, albeit largely without Campos. The important things for me are that: 1. They conceded the least goals in the league (supporting this seasons achievement) 2. They scored (and were expected to score) a decent amount of goals (3rd most in the league). For the purpose of comparing them to this season, they also outperformed what was expected of them. It is a good trait to have if you do it consistently, and this now looks more like a pattern than an anomaly. 3. Looking at the results of the 2nd season, they won 6 of their last 7 conceding only 1 goal in those wins. Whilst they had a couple of poor results over the festive period, it looked like they got their act together and brought that momentum into this season. In the game they lost they also missed a penalty and conceded an own goal so on another day that could have been a different result as well. I do still have concerns about his performances in the cup competitions but if Brands can do a similar job to Campos then I would be happy with his appointment to see what he could do. I certainly put him above other candidates being listed, albeit it would be a bit of a risk. That wasn't my only concern Newty and you know it. Stop fishing for likes.

  46. Honestly I think we could be a pretty attractive prospect for any manager really. Think about it, 4 out of the last 5 went onto potentially the biggest and best jobs they could have landed whilst not even having to succeed with us. ( I refuse to count big sam ) Moyes - Man U. Martinez - Belgium. Koeman - Barca. Carlo - Real Madrid. So if any one fancies the City, Bayern or PSG job just throw 18 months here and it’s pretty much yours I figure.

  47. @Bailey My jaw dropped when I just read you mentioning 'expected goals' to talk down the achievement of a surprise league win that no one expected. Mate, this affair with expected goals has to stop 🤣 In all seriousness guys, really surprised by the Nuno thing. I just assumed it was an obvious choice and would be pretty nailed on. Not because he's my favourite or anything, just thought it all added up. Ha. Anyway. Bit lost now. But reading up on this Galtier bloke, he sounds like he's done a good progressive job, like what we need. Only problem is, well...the Expected Goals were a bit low last season. Would need to address that as a matter of urgency.

Good. A new manager might want to have him in the team, and if he still wants to go he can. His agent will have to find a club willing to pay the £40m+ it will take to get him though.

  50. Just to add more to this... What is actually the difference in these images? When it is that tight and is anything but clear, advantage should go to the attacking team.
