  1. This whole Dele deal is such a microcosm of this club. Like Bill and Farhad. The best thing the club can do is get rid of Dele asap. This deal was always more dreaming than planning.
  2. Holy Shit! I haven't posted in like a decade. I finish work and see the result. 5-1 us, but Brighton has 80% possession? That's the most Football Manager esque result since Arsenal came back on Reading. What a day.
  3. Sorry to jump into this thread a couple days latter, but It wasn't too long ago that Martinez was talking about a Lahm style move to midfield for Baines. I wouldn't mind a little squad rotation to see what Garbutt could offer the 1st team, even if it was off the bench at first.
  4. Did anyone notice that picture of Barkley in the echo? He looks like a mutant in a horror film.
  5. I get what you are saying, but his 1st touch must improve. Occasional mistakes are one thing, but at the moment his 1st touch is not that of a professional footballer. Scoring goals will alleviate some pressure sure, but as it stands he has a glaring weakness in his game. This is not a new thing. I went back and watched all of his goals from WBA to Everton, and in that time he scored one goal with his back to a defender. Truthfully I like Rom a lot. Big, strong, physically imposing, solid positional awareness, good eye for goal, but if he is to be a world beater his 1st touch must improve substantially. Either way he will score goals, but does he want to be a good player, or a world class player?
  6. Midfield, front row, damn those are some great seats. How did you swing that?
  7. Interesting idea, but big clubs will still come in for them with deep pockets, and many promises. What young players really need to do is watch more football, and see how few youngsters actually play at the sugar daddy clubs. You can see the clubs and managers who give youth a chance. However, none of that matters because players will still see Chelsea offering them 25K per week at age 20. Thats a hell of a lot of money to say no too.
  8. Mind you I've not posted for a year, although I am still on the site weekly. This topic just piqued my interest. Of those you have mentioned only one we would really like to have back, Mustafi. Ruddy would see little to no game time with Howard here. Mustafi could be a first team player now, but at the time he left he had featured only once, and had not had any loan moves to really gauge has ability. Plus, he was not going to wait around for Moyes to leave to get a chance. Hopefully we have a sell-on fee because he left at such a young age. Everyone else is basically just not good enough to play for us. Some of those guys have had good years, but good enough for Everton? Doubtful. The only released youngsters I would have back are maybe Forshaw, and eventually Bidwell as squad players, but even then I am unsure they are good enough for us, and if they are not playing much they would have little incentive to return other than love for the club or big wages. As far as letting young players go. The big clubs release scores of players each year. You sometimes know you let one get away(I'm looking at you United with Pogba), but most times you understand that the club has limited finances, and you have to be careful where you spend your money. If you are unsure if a young player is going to make it then you do what makes the most sense financially. With regards to Bidwell. He and Garbutt are the same age, and the club picked Garbutt over him. Bidwell was on the league 1 team of the year, but it was Garbutt who was selected to be a part of the U21 National Team this summer.
  9. Probably we have to mix it up sometimes to keep things intresting. That was fair Dalziel. I was on the Daily Mail reading an article about Fellaini, and saw a link about Rooney and Moyes to have a go. It had several pictures of Rooney at Glastonbury(hope I spelled it right), and in the photos Rooney, his lady, and a couple people in the background all had rain boots on. I cracked a joke, and told my gf to come look, and then she went on about how Wellingtons are super popular, and very fashionable, and she said that people even wear them when its not wet or raining out. I was kinda shocked, and then she suggested I buy some so I thought I would get some feedback.
  10. So I have a question for you gentlemen. What are the popular, or most popular companies that manufacture Wellington boots? My girlfriend suggested I get some (We have had like 30cm of rain in the last month), and said that you guys(English people) wear them a lot, and they are very fashionable. I said alright, and figured I would ask the only English people I know, who makes the best ones?
  11. Rumors are that Chelsea have bid around £5M for Ruddy and it has been rejecting with Norwich seeking twice that price. Does anyone know if and how much of a sell on fee we have for the player? Could be a little extra to add to the transfer budget.
  12. I had to use Urban Dictionary for "git". It made me laugh.
  13. That is what I thought also, but Elstone mentioned during the EGM that we only had £4M more for our wage budget, and all that crap about increasing the match day experience and blah, blah, blah.
  14. That is true. I like Cornelius, but it is worth noting that for all of his goals this season he only scored 1 goal in 6 Europa League matches, but he was only 19 for most of the season.
  15. The only quality South Asian footballer I can think of is Belgian international Radja Nainggolan. I didn't realize how few black people there are in The UK. I guess I did not know what to expect, but I imagine it is similar to here lots minorities in the cities, and next to no minorities in the country. How diverse is Liverpool?
  16. 100% Correct. MLS will let top players leave, but they are not in the business of giving top players away. The league(not individual teams) own each contract in MLS; even the designated players that are not in the wage cap. It is not rocket science. Most clubs(MLS clubs included) have the ambition of keeping top players, and young players in order to improve as a club, or in MLS's case to improve the quality of the league while not breaking the budget; which is something MLS is always dealing with.
  17. I want to say I would cry out of happiness, but I can only imagine what my girlfriend would say if I started crying at my most vulnerable(during the act). I could see it now. Me: Babe I'm getting close. Her: Its ok Me: Where should I come Her: ?????(You never can tell what she will say) At this point I start crying Her: Babe its ok whats wrong Me: Its nothing, Love (Yeah I'm an American. I still say love. I picked it up from ya'll and I like it) Her: Tell me Babe Me: Everton signed the best Asian footballer in the world today. His name is Honda Her: What!?!? I thought something was wrong Me: No, I am just so happy Her: You never cry when you are happy. Get off me Me: But, I'm not done Her: Oh, but I am done. You can go come on your Honda. At this point she pushes me off. Me: I was really close, and I don't have a Honda anymore. I drive a Volkswagen. Her: Then come on the F***ing Volkswagen. Woman never seem to understand true passion am I right?
  18. Kane it all comes down to our board knowing how frustrated we get over the lack of squad investment, and they believe that by making attempts to improve the club we will be satisfied. Think of how long we have held onto Leroy Fer and countless others over the last several years. I am not trying to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but our board are only looking to make a profit off of what they have put into the club, For most businesses I would say that is a great vision, but for a football club who gain followers all over the world, and bleed for the club it only hurts. I used to think it was Moyes who dragged his feet over transfers, but now he has left, and he has already bought Thiago. I used to think Kenwright loved the club, but he claims fans have bothered him like rape, and Elstone, my mother taught me restraint, but I really dislike him. I do not expect investment at the club similar to Man City, Monaco, or Paris, but some level of ambition from our board would be quite pleasing. How they dismissed the idea of letting the fan base buy more into the club to fund operatinos imilar to Dortmund or other German clubs has me furious. They appoint quality personal to manage the players, but I feel like they could care less about how the club operates as long as they make a return on their investment. I know it may seem a bit extreme, but it was only 2 years ago Moyes was talking about how the club would be in a relegation fight, and without investment that is sure to return with the clubs around us all improving. Every club will not pull a QPR. I am not BU, and I do not hate our board, but I am worried about the direction the board is taking our beloved club. Sorry I went off topic, but these things have been on my mind lately, and I have had several drinks tonight.
  19. I agree with your assessment Steve, but both keepers mentioned are not going to make a transfer unless they can compete for the #1 jersey, and as Mucha learned that it doesn't take long to go from a solid, respected keeper to forgotten if you cannot get 1st team football.(Im guessing that Romanian giant City is learning this.) It is hard for English clubs to get work permits for Americans unless they have represented the country. Among this group is Gatt( who would be a solid young player for us. WORLD class speed) plays in Norway. Shea is at Stoke, Corona in Mexico who is not good enough, Mix in Norway also not good enough, etc. The Americans I would have most are Altidore who is prob to expensive, and the German/Americans Chandler, Boyd, and John Anthony Brooks, but Boyd has only done it one year and not in a top league, A. Bundesliga, and Chandler would only have a 1st team place if we sold a FB. Brooks would be the most intriguing of the Germans. He is only 20 played 30 matches for Hertha Berlin, and is a 6'3 CB. Agudelo has not scored a lot in MLS, but he is still only 20, and I think the goals will come. At his peak he could be a 10-15 goal scorer who will also create chances for others. There are a couple other really good MLS youngsters, but none have represented the US yet. Jack McInerney ST 20 Philadelphia( Already one of the top MLS strikers) Jack Mcbean ST 18 LA also has a Scottish passport Jose Villareal MF 19 LA Louis Gil MF 19 Salt Lake DeAndre Yedlin FB 19 Seattle
  20. I took a few minutes to look, and none of the news outlets that claim Martinez wants Honda had a quote. I have this strange feeling one of those agencies may have been on this site, and seen all of our chatter about Honda. It would not surprise me at all. I would love for Honda to become an Everton player though.
  21. Think they are there for the novelty, or do you guys still have a fair amount of druids?
  22. Agree he would be a hard buy, but dude is straight class. If possible I would love him here.
  23. A solid player, but I fail to see how he would help us with his age/price when we have the best FB in the Prem. As far as Baines going for 10-15M,. They can f*ck right off. For Baines its 25m or nothing. Baines alone is the biggest difference between us and the teams who finish 8-12 each year in the table.
  24. I'm not sure he is good enough to be a 30 match starter for us, but If Hal Robson-Kalu Is really going for only £2m then I think he would be a solid player and is only 24. Scored a decent amount of goals for Reading, and several of those were off the bench. He has solid speed, and can deliver a decent cross. For £2m we could do much worse than get a winger who scored 6 goals on the year in matches he was substituted on.
