  1. Resistiré (‘I will resist’) - FOR 2 CELLOS ! Made as big thanks to all the workers of the Spanish national healthcare system, and to all those people who are giving their all in this fight against coronavirus. Equally I hope it can be a message of support for the British National Health system. Strength to everybody - and especially to all those people infected with this cruel virus. We offer this transcription of cello duo recorded at distance - any possible benefit would go entirely to the Madrid Public Health System. Please help the cause by sharing this freely please! https://youtu.be/40RQfQE045A
  2. BRUTAL AGRESSION IN SPANISH SECOND DIVISION BRUTAL : ¡TREMENDA AGRESIÓN del portero del UCAM MURCIA Biel Ribas a Quintanilla ! The worst is that it was in stoppage time and the officials didn't see it, so no penalty and the game ended 1-1.

  4. BBC2 Tonight 9PM This World... Russia's Hooligan Army. Might have been worth a watch.... did anyone see it? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08flw2v This from the BBC - At the 2016 European Championships, violent clashes between Russian and English supporters in Marseille put the spotlight on Russian hooliganism. Russian hooligans injured over 100 English supporters, beating two into a coma, and it raised serious concerns ahead of Russia hosting the 2018 World Cup. Filmmaker Alex Stockley von Statzer travels to Russia to experience the country's football fan culture first hand. Featuring footage filmed in Marseille in 2016, rare interviews with members of some of the most feared firms like the Spartak Gladiators and Orel Butchers, and new footage of an organised fight for wannabe recruits, this show uncovers a world where brutal violence has become a mark of honour and a symbol of newly resurgent Russian masculinity. Most Russian hooligans have moved away from the English movement that inspired them in the 70s and 80s. Today they are organised in firms that are teetotal, physically fit and trained in mixed martial arts. Police have enacted new laws promising bans and jail for any fans that cause trouble and are heavily policing stadiums. Alex travels to Oryol to speak to the Orel Butchers who violently attacked English fans in Marseille. We hear one hooligan taking relish in describing a merciless attack by a number of Russians who kicked an England fan in the head - an attack that was also caught on camera. Alex also travels to Rostov, which will host five games at the World Cup, to film an organised fight in the woods. Here he meets with a local firm getting ready to audition for new members. Young men fight in a no-holds-barred brawl against young fighters from another local firm. It's a vicious clash similar to what was witnessed in Marseille and is one of the hundreds of fights that firms arrange all across Russia.
  5. thanks so much guys, amazed by your responses. Just proves footie fans come from all corners, and I for one have spent far too much time on football forums, haha!!!
  6. Yep, orchestral life basically - here: https://twitter.com/orquestanavarra?lang=es now to be dead honest with you all, I took life a bit too comfortably between 35 and 50, where I had this routine-ish job to pay the house and bills in this regional orchestra in Spain that I'm afraid looks never destined to go on world tours - came to a point when I thought my time might be passing too quickly so the last two or three years I've taken the cello far more seriously, really thought I could push myself much farther and demand things from myself that most other cellists wouldn't attempt, though it might be just only be for personal satisfaction - and now? Just hope I haven't peaked yet, hahaha!!
  7. On the fiddle No, not some kind of social-economic topic, or my dubious handling of any inter-forum game I organize, but daib0 here playing live on the cello …. It's a small ask coming up – and I know it’s nothing to do at all with footie, but just hoping for a bit of extra comradeship, shouldn’t cost you hardly 3 mins!! Won’t pester again this year, promise. You'll know I’m a cellist …. well, I’m happy to pass you the link of one of the most difficult pieces ever played on cello, just done. And I really enjoyed the challenge …! YOU TUBE David Johnstone plays Sarasate Aires Bohemios on Cello If you were able to share this link amongst a few friends & colleagues I would be very grateful indeed (‘cos it’s always the same, people think more visits = better, and to be honest that’s pretty hard to get on a ‘classical’ instrument like the cello.) … especially as I’m not registered for Facebook, LinkedIn etc. though I do make it on twitter. The thing is, people were asking for a close-up video to see for real, not the loads of audios which are already up on internet!! daib0 / David
  8. So I've just done this quiz by that money saving guy Martin Lewis to see how tight I was ... Just how tight are you lot then? Try it at http://mse.me/tight and please let on ... --------------------------------------------------------------- good bit of fun! here's mine: You are 15% tight "You need to tighten up - you're flushing money down the loo. Thrift is a virtue."

  11. Is this the dodgiest keeper ever?.. Or just match fixing? https://youtu.be/2dAlz61Lzns
  12. What about, if we have 5 leagues of 20 (because I understand the idea is 8 new Conference teams coming in to make it 100): Premier League Championship League Div 1 League Div 2 North - League Div 2 South ?? Then the 'poorer' clubs would have more derby matches and less distance to travel! Appreciate that with your prestigious history you live on a different planet to us Reading fans!
  13. The Guardian EFL puts definitive end to controversial plan to include Premier League B teams • Governing body also closes door on Celtic and Rangers joining league • League One and Two clubs reject idea of taking part in winter break The 72 Football League clubs have definitively ruled out the prospect of Premier League B teams playing them in league football or Rangers and Celtic joining them as part of a planned revamp. Really informative article here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/22/efl-rules-out-including-premier-league-b-teams-in-plans-for-new-league-structure End phrase took my attention "The mechanism for arriving at the new structure via promotion and relegation in the 2018-19 season is still to be decided. At its most extreme it could mean seven teams being relegated from the Championship that season and three coming up from League One. More likely is some form of compromise whereby fewer teams are relegated." Thoughts?
  14. yep, just read on the BBC site the target has been achieved. Bradley was a mascot for the Sunderland v Everton game on Monday night. Everton made a donation of £200,000 to help the appeal.... fantastic gesture Good luck to the little fella for his treatment.
  15. As most of you know, I do quite a lot of inter-forum stuff, I always try to be neutral when I'm not on for Reading FC matters. So ... the Sunderland admin lady on the Black Cat Chat forum has asked me if I could reproduce this on more forums ... so please do take a read and go to the link underneath. Any spare pennies would be really welcomed... but equally a message on any social network would be a good help too. Here it is: "Bradley Lowery is a Sunderland mad lad who loves his footy. Unfortunately, Bradley also suffers with a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma, which can only be treated in the USA. In order to get there, Bradley's family need to rase more than £700,000, and we intend to help him get there and to help him continue to roar the Lads on for many more years to come! If ever there was a young lad deserving of your help and ours, then Bradley is that young lad. We aim to do our bit to help get this young boy the treatment he so richly deserves. Please, help us to help Bradley. Any and all donations are welcome." http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/NECharityFootball
  16. Is this a wind-up? Metro Isis bans football referees in Syria because they enforce ‘laws of Fifa not Sharia’ Isis has reportedly banned football referees in one of its Syrian strongholds because they uphold the rules of Fifa and not Sharia law. According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory of Human Rights, Isis commanders told organisers of local games that referees would be banned because their decisions ‘do not judge according to what Allah has revealed’ and are ‘a violation of Allah’s command and the Sunnah.’ Commanders have also drawn up a list of rules, the SOHR reports, which describe how an injured player can receive compensation from their opponents, or exact revenge, under Sharia law. The news comes before the beginning of the football league season in the territory around Deir ez-Zor. ‘We’re lucky because the football we play does not run using Fifa’s name – then the organisation [isis] would have stopped games once and for all and not just refereeing,’ a player told the SOHR. Isis has banned a string of other activities including smoking, dancing and watching foreign television. Those who breach the rules put in place by Isis can be flogged, shot, beheaded or burned alive. In recent months, US-led forces have pushed Isis back across Syria and Iraq. This week, the terror groups head of propaganda, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, was killed. 18. Everton 8 Southampton 0 November 1971 My cousin found this comment about the match concerning Everton goalkeeper Gordon West Ken Hilton 658 Posted 24/09/2012 at 15:23:07 One of my funniest memories of football occured during that game. As has been mentioned above, the weather was terrible. Gordon West hardly touched the ball at all during the game and must been frozen. So during the second half, someone ran onto the pitch down the Park End and gave him a cup of tea. Gordon was drinking the tea while the game was still going on.! Great anecdote!!
  19. I loved these League Ladders in the '80s, but to tell you the truth I'd forgotten all about them till now. Saw this pic on Twitter today. Couldn't have been around for many seasons I suppose? Anyone else got memories of these?!
  20. Bury winding up petition PETITIONS TO WIND UP (COMPANIES) In the High Court of Justice (Chancery Division) Companies Court No 3002 of 2016 In the Matter of BURY FOOTBALL CLUB COMPANY LIMITED (THE) Have a look at this ... and comment! https://m.thegazette.co.uk/notice/2556476 When you think in the greater Manchester area there are seven league sides and many more non league. But now with easy access - has the north west got too many clubs???

  22. Please help me lads - just a small favour! Click onto this: B3 CLASSIC, A MUSICAL EXPERIENCE We need to get lots of visits on this, specifically for several music agency contacts in Madrid and Barcelona who need to be impressed... an 'I like' click even better!! Later this year, one more coming up, and that will be quite a bit more spectacular (a mix of me playing ten cellos recoreded separately and mashed together) but that's for the short future! Cheers guys and lasses!! daib0/David

    The funny corner

Here's a story for you all Once upon a time there was a King who wanted to go fishing. He called the royal weather forecaster and inquired as to the weather forecast for the next few hours. The weatherman assured him that there was no chance of rain in the coming days. So the King went fishing with his wife, the Queen. On the way he met a farmer on his donkey. Upon seeing the King the farmer said, "Your Majesty, you should return to the palace at once because in just a short time I expect a huge amount of rain to fall in this area". The King was polite and considerate; he replied: "I hold the palace meteorologist in high regard. He is an extensively educated and experienced professional, and besides, I pay him very high wages. He gave me a very different forecast. I trust him and I will continue on my way." So he continued on his way. However, a short time later, an absolutely torrential downpour of rain fell from the sky. The King and Queen were totally soaked and, well, their entourage chuckled upon seeing them in such a shameful condition. Rather furious, the King soon returned to the palace and gave the order to sack the professional upon immediate effect. He then summoned the farmer and offered him the prestigious and high paying role of royal forecaster. But the farmer said, "Your Majesty, I do not know anything about forecasting. I obtain my information from my donkey. If I see my donkey's ears drooping, it means with certainty that it will rain." So the King by-passed him and hired the donkey. And thus began the practice of hiring dumb *sses to work in the government and occupy its highest and most influential positions. And what's more, the practice is unbroken to this date...
