  11. Everton are tying up the final details of a loan move for Roma's Matteo Ferrari. As first reported at the end of June, The Toffees want the 25-year-old to help increase competition for places in their defence. David Moyes has had a major breakthrough on the eve of his side's crucial UEFA Champions League second leg qualifier with Villarreal with the stopper's representative admitting his client is joining the Merseysiders. "Matteo didn't train with the squad on Tuesday and the time has come to sign with Everton," revealed agent Giovanni Corci to Radio Incontro. "It will be a loan move with the option to buy at the end of the season for a fee of around £3.7 million. "The negotiations with Everton were run by a bunch of amateurs," he blasted, in reference to the fact that the deal has taken much of the summer to materialise. Moyes felt he had helped improve his backline with the capture of Per Kroldrup from Udinese but the Dane requires surgery on a groin problem skysports.com
