  1. I remember a few years ago there was this young kid of 15 who was signed for about £1 million. He was a huge prospect at the time, but had a horrible attitude and ended up in the lower leagues. Can anyone help me remember his name? He had amazing skill like Gazza. Wondering what happened to him.
  2. How would people compare this team to the Mike Walker then Joe Royle “Dogs of war”. This was the last time I remember us in such a poor state. For me we need a defensive coach. Chelsea were poor at defending and so are we. With no money, are there any in youth team good enough that will or should break through next season?
  3. £20 million got a proven goal scorer who is still only 28 and an England international is a bargain. We are lacking goals and are toothless up front. Just wondering if Sam has bought him as a striker or goals scoring winger?
  4. The best signing we could hope for in the circumstances. We absolutely could not let ourselves be relegated, Sam guarantees safety. One thing to point out is Sam has never been in charge of a team with money and a very decent ( albeit poorly performing) squad, he has always taken on teams that are low on talent. But we need to sign a left back, central defender and a striker in the window. One thing is for certain, you can forget the school of science, its not gonna be pretty!
  5. I think its simple, we did not replace Lukaku, you absolutely cannot lose a 20+ goals a season striker and not replace him. What is really concerning is that we are already in a relegation battle the likes of which I have not seen since the "dogs of war" days. Personally I would grab Sam Allardyce until end of the season, stabilise the ship and go all out for the best striker we can get in the transfer window. Then in the summer we can go all out for a top class manager.
  6. David Unsworth is the natural choice for the short term. Fact remains we have not replaced Lukaku, coupled with the worst start in 12 years we have little to no chance of attracting a top quality striker in the window unless we sign a world class manager. Allardyce is a manager to keep teams up, he never wins anything. You only appoint if you have no money and are looking certain to go down, neither of which are the case. Personally I would go for Ancelloti and go all out to get the best striker we can get. I am just surprised that it took until the 9th game, it was not as if they were close run results as we was getting played off the pitch! I have no doubt in the quality of the players we signed in the window. Sandro will be great and Calvert-Lewin is one for the future, both however need an experience striker to learn from. Rooney should have been a role model, he has turned in to an embarrassment.
  7. People seem to forget that in our first 6 games of the season, we had Man City, Chelseas, Spurs and Manchester United! We have made a lot of new signings, it takes time for them to bed in and get a style that suits. The Atlanta game was not acceptable though. We also sold Lukaku and did not replace him, a striker should have been our number one focus in the window. I have very high hopes for DCL, he is going to be top drawer. However he needs an experienced striker alongside. If we can get Rooney in to form, give Davies more play time and Niasse keeps on scoring then we can go all out in January and get the striker we desperately need.
  8. Question is, how regular will he play? If we also get Gylfi Sigurosson, surely he will still warm the bench more often than not?
  9. Anthony Martial - £36 million, potentially rising to an £58 million, 11 French league goals after 29 appearances with a strong Monaco team France U21..... SandroRamirez - £5.5 million., 16 goals in 31 appearances for mid table Malaga and Spain U21. I know which one seems like the better deal
  10. I heard that he won't drop his wages, any truth to that?
  11. Does anyone know how much of the potential £65 million we will see? I heard that we bought him from Chelsea on a 5 year payment plan. Assuming there is a buy back clause is £20 million the most we can expect as profit?
  12. He would be a top quality signing imo, fabulous goalkeeper. This would certainly be a statement of intent! If true does this lend more credence to Manuel Pellegrini being signed as manager?
  13. Seeing crazy rumours about £65 million for Lukaku? Assuming there is some huge sell on fee that Chelsea are owed hence the inflated price being quoted?
  14. I think he is turning in to Neville Southall, just needs a moustache!
  15. I personally would like us to go for Joachim Low, World Cup winner and quite clearly the lead man even when Klinsmann was in charge. Wealth of experience and his teams play good attacking football. Only concern is his lack of top level domestic experience.
