AlbanyNYToffee reacted to Romey 1878 in Dominic Calvert-Lewin
He definitely should have put that chance away in the first half but the fact is that he's an infinitely better option than Beto in our side because his all round game is on a completely different level. Our play completely falls apart with Beto up front because he is terrible at winning the ball and holding the ball up. For a big lad that is a crap footballer he really doesn't put himself about enough for me.
It's not hard to see that he came to professional football late.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to StevO in Bill
Known him on TT for the best part of two decades, I disagreed with him pretty much for two decades. I know I had a lot of respect for him and he will be missed by a lot of people here on TT
Bill made as big a contribution to this place as anyone over the years. He’s a major part of what TT is today and for that I’m grateful.
Condolences to Patto and the rest of your family.
Rest easy Bill.

AlbanyNYToffee got a reaction from Palfy in Crystal Palace (FA Cup) 4th January
The other FA cup games this weekend without it were spectacular. And guess what no one was screaming like a maniac about any of the decisions the next day. The beauty of sport is the shared experience and part of that is an understanding human error will happen with a game played at this pace. I've said from the very beginning if VAR is going to exist it should only do so at full speed. Have as many angles as you want but if you need to slow it down to make a decision you've lost already. It also greatly reduces the quality of the officiating because they have a crutch for all crucial decisions instead of relying on their training.
VAR is destroying the sport, more so than FFP, full stop.

I want VAR banned from all games it’s the biggest mistake football has made.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to Romey 1878 in Tottenham (Away) 23rd December
What I thought about the incident is that it's a soft foul that can go either way and if it had been given on the pitch at the time then you'd have no complaints really, but the ref and linesman thought it was ok so once that's happened I don't see how VAR can say that's a clear and obvious error. That type of foul is all about how you perceive it and opinions.

I thought we were comfortably the better side for the 90 minutes. We let ourselves down with some poor defending and poor finishing the other end.
Performances like today make me believe even more that we'll win a fair few more games this season. We're a good side and we played some lovely football today as well, which isn't something we've done a lot of.
We may very well lose 2 in a row with City coming up next, but it's important not to overreact to that or the loss today because we're very much heading in the right direction.

We lost, but damn we showed some character again.
So many good chances, so unlucky as well.

No shame in that performance 👏👏👏
Considering we lost, that was an enjoyable watch.
Remember lads...at this point last year, at 2 down that quickly, heads would have been down and out.

They both definitely could’ve got on that floating debris but Rose was a selfish bitch.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to Matt in Sean Dyche
And that's why I've got so much patience with him. He can frustrate but the results are coming and, more importantly, the performances are what I think an Everton side should be; gritty when needed, creative and possession based when possible, classy as much as practically allowed. I'm loving it.

It's not fair, he needs to start picking Gomes and Dele in the side, give the others teams a chance.

I can see the frustrations around a certain player, sometimes with subs, and maybe some stubbornness.
BUT...
What a fuckin job he's doing.
And, no, I'm not just saying this now. I said similar things repeatedly over time.
He is exactly what we have needed after the last several years.
Mostly, I enjoy watching us play. Then I look in disbelief at how little possession we have. Because it rarely feels that way.
Let's be honest. The only thing that has stopped us from being 9 - 12 points better off is finishing.
You guys have all said the good stuff already so I won't repeat it.
The most pleasing thing I'm seeing though is the unity in the team. The way they celebrate together, throw themselves into tackles, clap each other, encourage. With that it's brought a much needed rekindling between fans and the players.
This in itself is a massive win.
I do agree that there MIGHT be a ceiling as to where he can take us but, in all honesty, with the ownership etc I think he'll take us beyond what we would have thought was realistic a year ago.
We will progress with him though.

Not perfect by any means, who is, but exactly what we need at this club. Especially in this period.

He's a dinosaur, they say, but I really enjoy the style we are playing in right now. Long may it last!
