We’ll be that slow on this one that the fooker will score past us on Saturday!

I wanna know why Maupay has been given a shirt number...

Things change over time, don't they? I would still agree with much of what I wrote, though. Where our boat was holed was DC-L being out for most of the season and Maupay proving to be poor. Our defence was not an issue: remember when we had the best defence stats in the league? Our midfield was strong and remains so. We have England's #1 in goal. McNeil turned out to be an excellent acquisition. In many ways, our story is similar now to what it was then. With the wisdom of hindsight, though, we now know that proven depth in attack is not only a priority but an absolute necessity.

I think we are definitely moving towards a younger team that could develop together.
    Patterson (21), Branthwaithe (21), Godfrey (25), Mykolenko (24)
                           Onana (21),  Garner (22),
       McNeil (23),       Dele/Iwobi (27),      Danjuma (26)
                              DCL (27)/ Chermiti (19))
I am not suggesting that's our best team as we have Gana, Young, Tarkowski and Doucs who would all probably get in the starting 11 on game day 1, but I can start to see a good nucleus of a team developing - there are 6 or 7 players that you would hope will improve this season. Average age of those listed is 23.5.

You just know that nobody at the club had even heard of him. The analysis team watched a couple of Sporting videos prior to the weekends game and suddenly we’re buying him. 😂

I think the McNeil injury if 4-6 weeks will have a big bearing on if we sell or keep, unless of course he pushes it with a transfer request, apparently he is keen to leave next and join West Ham or Fulham, it’s hard to keep everyone happy with in a squad and he’s not happy or feeling the love so it’s best he goes imo.

I’ve seen some people say that this would make an Adams/Iheanacho signing more palatable and I agree with that. An upgrade over Maupay this year plus a promising depth option that is one for the future would be a solid approach to bolstering our attack given the price tag of coveted first team strikers these days.

With Gbamin, Gomes, Gray and Holgate all linked with moves away and even potentially Maupay, we’ve actually got a decent shot at ‘starting again’. These are the top names I’d sell/ let go as don’t think any fit or are of any use to us. Even getting rid of 3 in this window will be a bonus and give us some desperate wiggle-room for players who can actually move us forward/ be relied on.

Looks like the sort of player we want with his hold up play to allow others to get around him, not a prolific scorer but if he can keep hold of the ball then Danjuma may be able to feed off him and the goals may come that way.

Guys, Maupay has had plenty of chances created for him during these friendlies. It’s his finishing that has been atrocious.
Even the ball that Gana slid him yesterday, just hit his leg and went up in the air.

To give a guy a chance to turn on the penalty spot is a GOOD chance! The friendly before he was slid in with the ball in front of him twice… and absolutely bodged it.

We aren’t creative enough in any way. But we have created enough chances for him to have bagged a couple of goals easily. He is extremely poor at finishing.
I 100% believe if Danjuma would have been on the end of Maupays chances, he would have bagged a couple.
We don’t need just another carbon copy of Dom. We need a couple of players in the team that can just simply get a decent shot on target.

Even yesterdays absolute stinker of a match created a couple of chances on the floor for Dobbin. They weren’t crosses into the box, they were chances on the floor in front of the forward ready for a shot on goal. You don’t have to he 6”+ to take those chances.
Maupay is on a par with Niasse and Cenk. Difference is he doesn't work as hard as those two did.

At this stage, I'd imagine showing scouts he still has two legs is probably helpful!

Players go where they are told these days, not where they want. Money money money. If we are offering more money, he’s coming the Merseyside.

We are shopping in the right sort of window. If players chose elsewhere over us, then so be it. We can't be paying over the odds on wages on players that are still really only prospects.
On the back of two relegation fights and boardroom turmoil, we are currently seen as a dynamic improving club. What the club needs to be focusing on is changing the perception of Everton FC to up and coming players.
Plenty of fish in the seas as they say. (well up until the end of August!)
