  1. I’ve been talking about this with a mate this evening a fellow blue and i started off supporting the allardyce out position but after a healthy discussion I’m more sympathetic to him. Brought in to do a job - remember how it looked at the arse end of November? - he’s done that job, think about the signings he’s made Tosun & Walcott 2/2 I think? compared to the previous regime this is success in a bottle. How would I score big sam/the gravy guzzler/ chippy tits ? Ok the style has been not exactly easy on the eye but the genuine relegation fears in November have been alleviated and we’d have taken 9th then at the drop of a hat so what’s the big deal? Paranoia that big sam will turn us into some vile defensive yawn fest or they he will waste the transfer funds available on entirely unsuitable players? Maybe neither but whilst we dream of the likes of tom tutchel or Paulo Fonseca we are never likely to get either and maybe this is sams day - 7/10
  2. Back to the sixties Merseyside 1966 Derek Temple scores The world cup Seventh heaven
  3. I thought Hibbert was our most dangerous player in the 1st half I jumped out my seat when he surged into the box for the penalty - our only attempt on target in the half. We deserved a point from this game and it's maddening that we didn't get it. Stones is becoming more important each game I really hope the injury's not serious.
  4. I'm all for it, the 'detrimental to league form' argument is repeated so often by pundits that it's taken as a given. If we entertain the Mail's stats we should disregard what happened to Fulham, Stoke, Man City, Birmingham & Newcastle and concentrate on the team most similar to ourselves i.e. Spurs who've finished 4th, 5th & 5th/6th in the last 3 seasons, sure they had some horror results following Europa games - losing 0-3 to West Ham comes to mind - but there finishing position shows it wasn't a total car crash. I know we didn't do great in 2009/10 but that's hardly a meaningful sample size. Isn't there something the Europa league can bring to a team something that the Premier League can't give and helps it develop?
  5. Don't forget about Sunderland... For me Gerry is one of the 1st names I look for on the team sheet & I love watching him - the Arsenal goal tells you everything about his ability & potential. Sure he's a bit frustrating on occasions but that's par for the course with an exciting talent. If we can keep him for another season I will be so happy.
  6. My impression of all this is that although Moyes was found to be not up to the task and didn't behave as graciously as he might towards his former employer during his tenure is that it's utd come out of this the worst. The handling of his sacking has been shabby at best, this is a club without class, I really hope their next manager takes them further down the pan where they belong... Maybe next season they'll have to entertain Rafa as an interim? - this is my 10th post in about 6 years! but I enjoy everyone's comments, I'm hoping for forest or derby to come up with Leicester so I can get to a couple of games next season as I don't get back to Liverpool very often.
  7. Radio 5 confirm he's at finch farm & reckon he's there to try & force the deal through which suggests there's a spanner in the works - maybe the Fernando deal falling through as someone pointed out. It's going to be difficult to sleep tonight!
  8. Moyes is desperate to sign a player he knows how to use (relatively speaking) and microphone head fits the, bill there's no way this won't happen. Lets hope we get Fernando at least.
  9. He's a disruptive influence, a toxic brand & a quality scumbag, he has no place at Everton, I can't believe our manager or owner would ever contemplate bringing him here.
  10. Hafnia's list seemed to have a name missing... What about getting Rafa in as an interim manager as soon as Chelsea get rid? worth it for the amusement value alone, imagine the incredulity of the RS it would be priceless (& we might start winning a few derbies)

    Wigan away

This was always going to be a tricky fixture, Wigan played well against Sunderland last week before Gomez got sent off. All in all a draw is not too bad an outcome although sounds like we were the better side. I trawled this thread this morning & I think two people called the correct score - good call! and I hope you were on.
  12. Any one who thinks Moyes should go needs their head testing. Although I don't think he owes us anything after 10 years I can't see him jumping ship to Spurs it's hardly the safest job in football and he knows that. There's only one job he would consider and we all know which one that is. DM gives us stability, continuity and the relative confidence that comes with it. Blue union may despair at the perceived stagnation of the club but Everton are a relatively well run club in many ways and keeping DM is essential to maintain this. Choosing a new manager is something of a lottery & the chances of getting another good one are definitely odds against.
  13. voted for Bilic but only want him if Moyes goes elsewhere voluntarily. To refresh myself with his career have just read his profile http://www.toffeeweb.com/players/past/Bilic.html ... having 2nd thoughts!
  14. DM has made steady progress in 10 years, heartbreak at Villareal, League cup semi’s exposure by Chelsea in the 2009 final and now Saturday’s despair. We all know how the media fall over themselves to tell us what a great job he’s done on not much money speculating what would he do if he had some to spend? All blues were hurt by this result but calling for our manager to be dismissed is not the way forward – leave that kind of behaviour to Wolves, Huddersfield et al. Saying DM has “taken us as far as we can go” is short sighted think of our progress in the last 10 years, the solid foundation now in place. Think about what DM has done and how he has addressed criticism remember they used to say we could finish 5th but couldn’t beat a top 4 team well he’s put that one to bed – ok away from home has room for improvement but 1 step a t a time. This is a platform for further progress but... for me the one thing he hasn’t delivered is a team to beat Liverpool – I’d be interested in any stats of our previous managers against them and my overriding impression is this is the entire club could do with seeing a sports psychologist to tackle this inability to even threaten the club who are – let’s face it - our biggest rivals.
  15. hi everyone - the boyz done good, cursing moyesey with MOM I felt sure wed lose esp as Blackburn in form & traditionally difficult opponents (NYH) but not the case. Turner sending off was bizarre, 2 games 4 goals conceded & a sending off are not thrilling stats, & todays incident doesnt suggest he's hit it off with the defence does it? In time he may be decent but Ruddy looks OK to me.
