  1. I agree I'm sure he's really hacked off. We've made a net spend of 3m this window. Everyone else is spending millions. What's this about him being away on family business?????
  2. Spot on Hans. We've got a great deal which will mean no ongoing debt. This is the best possible way to attract future investment into the club. The board have been straight re. the wording of the question. Its not been loaded in favour of the move. Will those of you who are against the move then get behind the club if the votes in favour?
  3. As Romey says I think he means one more signing. It could be Alan Smith and then the loans will be Fernandez and Riquelme
  4. Probably all available income from Sky etc has been sucked into paying our wack towards the new stadium. I trhink I heard somewher Everton have to find 30M. The rationale behind it is a new stadium will make us far more attractive to a potential investor.
  5. For FFS Kenwright the Kopites have just spent 40 million, that's right just under 40 million on two players! We have spent 4 million on Jakielka. I'm as sick as a dawg and not very happy at all!"!
  6. Good post Mike but I just hope our football is a bit easier on the eye this season! i mean to say Moyes is getting there with the results but as for quality football and entertainment..........
  7. http://bluekipper.net/viewtopic.php?t=31452 I still think its bollox though - It would be out in an official source by now. The thread started thursday!
  8. Koumas is a talented player. I've seen a lot of him playing for Wales. He takes a great free kick and can open up a defence with a cross or a pass. We've been lacking that in midfield. As Rob says who else is around for the same price??
  9. From what I've heard.......Jags and Koumas deals are done. Smith will come to us if he is told he has no future at ManU. Nugent will also come but will have to sit tight for a while. Kieran Richardson is a likely. Moyes also hopeful of a further loan period for Fernandes.
  10. http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1387 Interesting new rumour I thought.
  11. I for one have never rated him. He looked out of his depth in the under 21 tournament, he has no real pace. Is he seriously better than what we already have. Remember how highly Beattie was rated a couple of seasons ago and how we were all looking forward to his partnership with AJ last season. Looks like we have no money because everything is going towards the new stadium. We therefore sign Jaglielka to cover the back and centre midfield, try and get Fernandez back on loan and then try to get to January with what we have. That'll mean giving Van the man and Beattie another chance. Remember we'll have Cahill back fully fit and AJ after his op. will be raring to go. I know its not good enough really but this new stadium is going to cost 300 m. Remember Arsenal struggled for years to find money for players when the Emirates was being built and we are poorer than them! For the long term Moyes seems to me to be looking for 17 year old prospects. We're being linked with a lot of young players - it may work!
  12. After thought: Might have to join this ' Independant Pimp EFC"s assses supporters doomsday Cult" & stir some shiote . Pat that conjures up a picture At least we haven't sold out to the Bush's Republican contra buddies!
  13. All power to them. Pat, some of them may be 'grumpy old men' but perhaps like me they remember a team that used to play some exciting football. Some of us have accepted for far too long the crap football we are served up week after week after week...! The problem is there is obviously a close relationship between Kenwright and Moyes and nothing is going to change soon.
  14. Ian I've never supported anyone else either. I like watching good football though. Everton being safe from relegation is very important but too many people accept that as enough. I don't. The question is as far as I can see it:- Is Moyes getting the best out of the players he has at his disposal under the financial restrictions he faces? I used to think he was or at least he needed time but now I've lost all confidence in him. I seriously think the current squad would be better under someone else. I'm starting to think that Moyes is very defensively minded all the time, he doesn't seem able to adapt tactics to changing situations on the pitch or get the best out of the players he has. His strength is that he is generally good at keeping a lead if we go 1-0. But look at our attacking threat, it consists of long throws into the box from Neville, free kicks and the odd good cross. Our one strength going forward is the link up play between Johnson and Cahill, but teams are wise to that now. When was the last time we watched Everton score from a flowing move from defence? Our goals are usually opportunist and come from broken play or opposition mistakes. None of the players, Arteta apart, are comfortable on the ball, they want to get rid as soon as they receive a pass. Usually the ball is knocked short down the channels. Where are the defence splitting passes on the ground Johnson should be getting? Where is the threat of coming forward at pace down the wings? This is all about coaching and confidence building instead of Moyes permanent safety first approach.
  15. The point I was making about West Brom is how Mowbray has come in and turned them around and made them attractive to watch, that's all. I'm not a doom monger, I'm just sick of watching crap football, (wherever we are in the table). Taking a few risks and being more attack minded, trying to play the ball on the ground instead of hoofing it up to a player who has no-one to knock it down to is not going to get us relegated if you fill your players with confidence that they can do it. Moyes has drummed into them not to take risks and they don't because they are shit scared of the consequences from him. You asked me for a name how about Mark Hughes! In fact how about anyone else.

    Watford

This is the team I think Moyes would like to play against Watford:- HOWARD HIBBERT YOBO STUBBS LESCOTT BOYLE NEVILLE NAYSMITH PISTONE VALENTE CARSLEY I hear the squad have concentrated on kicking the ball as hard and as high as possible during training this week and Moyes has explained to his players that he will fine anyone who crosses the half way line or attempts to pass the ball on the ground.
  17. Its patently obvious that David Moyes cannot take us any further. This has nothing to do with investment blah blah... he is not getting the best out of the players he has available to him. He thinks defensively. Fair enough that was fine 4-5 years ago when we were in real shit and I thank him for getting out of that terrible situation. But he was only doing his job, getting paid £500 a year, so I'm not too grateful! The football we play is dire to watch. Moyes has perfected the art of nicking a one nil win with hoof ball. The odd 3-0 derby win is not going to change that reality I'm afraid. Look what Tony Mowbray is now doing at West Brom, they are playing good football in which the ball is passed quickly on the ground. The sad fact is we've forgotton what its like to watch good football and we comfort ourselves with the fact that at least we're not in a relegation fight now. How long are we going to depend on that fact for defending the indefensible.
  18. Fair post Steelered. It s good reading people who actually think about what they say. Throwing insults around on a web forum is childish and puerile. Anyone with sense would just ignore them and scroll on by!
  19. I'd have settled for four points off them at the start of the season and considering we were away and they were on a good run, a very good result. We need to sort the midfield out though, need to create more chances.
  20. This Guardian story seems to explain a lot:- http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2002591,00.html I suppose with a lot of players coming back from injury. You can add Naysmith and Pistone to Hibbert, Valente and Cahill, we are not desperate for new players in this window despite losing Weir and Davies!
  21. This is what Bougherra said:- "I went to Liverpool and visited the infrastructure of Everton, an immense club indeed. "But the trainer was honest with me from the very start, he said to me that he needed a general purpose player who could play defensive midfield. "For me it is out of question that I change position. Indeed I started life as a defensive midfielder, but no one ever noticed me in this position. "The position of central defender is that which is appropriate to me and at 24 years I want to continue my progress in this position with my club as with the national team." Was Moyes hoping for a cheaper option than Fernandes, Bougherra says otherwise and now Moyes and Kenwright are stuck trying to finance a deal for Fernandes?
  22. Oh No not again?:- http://www.thesoccerblog.org/premiership/m...ese-midfielder/
  23. What about Etherington? He looked good against us at Goodison. He's got a lot of pace and is more direct than McFadden:- http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html
  24. Some rumours going round Moyes is to be approached for the Scotland job. Its probably crap but please God let it be so! Seriously though he has done a reasonable job in stabilising us and I thank him for removing the continual threat of relegation but in my 40 years of watching this club I have never seen such negative tactics and boring football as I am seeing now! Its so obvious the players have no confidence and seek to get rid of the ball as soon as possible. That usually results in a hoof ball. This happens because they are playing with fear, fear of having the manager on their backs slagging them off! How often do you see one of our players running into space and getting behind the opposition. They seem to all crowd together in midfield in one part of the pitch. The opposition close them down and the receiver of the pass has no time to do anything positive with the ball because his back is always to the goal. Its obvious they have been drilled by the manager not to take risks, not to make mistakes, to play safety first, (the percentage game!). What does that result in, it results in crap football and enough 1-0 victories for us to avoid the drop. Now if some of you are happy to spend your hard earned cash watching that, fair enough. I'm not though, I want something better!
