Blue 250 got a reaction from Mogsy in Longest Thread For Drivel (or the Romelu Lukaku thread)
It's pretty fucking flat in Norfolk.
It certainly is a funny thread.......Some people think Lukaku has done pretty well in an underachieving team and is full of promise.....whilst others think he hasn't really done that well and is flawed as a striker ie can't control a ball and doesn't do enough !
Oh well, guess his price tag of £55/60million says something.........whilst offers in the region of £25/30million might tell us otherwise.
Next season will be a massive one in the history of Everton FC.

Blue 250 reacted to nogs in Manchester United (Away) Sunday April 3
Thank him for what, two consecutive years of underachieving mediocrity? This is not the best squad we have had in 30 years because they do not know how to win, it is nonsense to suggest this lot are better than, say, the team of Cahill, Arteta, Osman, Pienaar et al. Which team do you honestly think would win between this lot and the Moyes side of 5/6 years ago? I know who my money would be on. And come next season two, three, four of those 'phenomenal talents' will have jumped ship anyway.
And no, it is not pack mentality. I'd say it's a pretty rational response to watching a team play without passion, hunger and the nouse to win games the way, say, Leicester do. I would swap our entire squad of underachieving lazy arseholes for 21 players with the heart they have and a manager who knows how to utilise it. So no, I won't thank Martinez for fuck all, because he has given us fuck all.

Over the years we've had players wanting to leave. It's been tough to take, and we've wanted them to stay to help us progress and the fans have turned on them.
Look at Rooney, he was too good for the team around him back then, he could have stayed to drag the team forward but never (I have my own thoughts on that but I've not been mad at him for it). The fans hated him for years.
Jeffers, again a player who was out scoring the rest of the team, in hindsight he knows he should have stayed but he had the chance to win things. The fans hated him for it.
Lescott, had the chance to go and win things, Hughes didn't help the situation but it all went sour. He went to a better team and won the league.
Rom, the big difference this time is that we know we have a team good enough to compete. We are seeing a Leicester team with no better players than us looking like they will win the league. While Rom scores all these goals and we are sitting down the lower end of the table. The masses don't seem mad at him, people are mad at the manager because he has assembled a side good enough to compete but his tactics/attitude/ego seem to be an issue. If we played to our potential we may be competing for the title too, and our stars wouldn't want to leave.
It's a strange situation, but it's tough to finally see a side this good maybe fall apart, pretty much because we can't hold onto a lead.
Just my opinions of course.

Blue 250 reacted to duncanmckenzieismagic in Lukaku
It won't make any difference, he has 3 years on his contract and if nobody matches our valuation he won't be going anywhere
Can't blame the lad for having ambition, his career is taking off and he is now one of the best forwards in the Premiership if not Europe so it's only natural that he should want to play Champions League football. Sadly under Bobby Walker Everton are going in the opposite direction so why would he want to stay?

Blue 250 reacted to Sibdane in Lukaku
I don't blame him. When Roberto first joined Everton the highlight of his plan was getting into CL.
Well we're further off now then we were when Lukaku first joined according to table results. Rom has been saying that forever and despite some opinions on this board, he is a hot target due to his age and ability to finish.
We're going into our 4th season with Bobby and still nothing to show. We can't show even progress.

Blue 250 got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Kopite Thread
I think after this season, there's no way Spurs would pay £20m for McCarthy. They might even win the league yet, there'll be plenty of players wanting a little bit of that, champions, new stadium, London etc. Can't see McCarthy being any more than a bench warmer.

Blue 250 reacted to Romey 1878 in Arsenal (Home) Saturday March 19
I'm absolutely appalled by what I've sat through today.
Besic shouldn't have started because he clearly wasn't fit and Martinez will have known that. There were other options to replace Barry so there was no need. Then he subs him at half time for a defender when we're 2-0 down and not even in the game :/. Well done, we have a tactical genius on our hands folks!
Then there are the players... Fuck me, what a heartless, effortless, pathetic showing that was. Coleman, Rom and Lennon are probably the only ones who even tried. Coleman's crossing was woeful but at least he had a go. Lennon was having to come inside to do the invisible man Barkley's job of supporting Rom so was leaving their wide man in loads of space but, again, the lad showed guts the rest could only dream of. And Rom was having to try and be creator as well as get himself in the box on the end of anything!
Pissed off doesn't cover it.

Team changes for the second half.........Arsenal off, an Improved Everton on........might just get a draw

Blue 250 reacted to Romey 1878 in Longest Thread For Drivel (or the Romelu Lukaku thread)
Every striker goes through patches of not scoring. I don't see why it's such a big thing to throw at Rom as if he's the only one it's happened to.

So typically Everton!
I thought we played well enough in the first half and were very unlucky to be behind at half time . Second half we completely ran out of ideas and once again no plan B
Today highlighted exactly why we are a mid table side

Blue 250 reacted to Romey 1878 in Stoke City (Away) Saturday February 6
Not the greatest of games to watch quality-wise due to the conditions, but with us only really looking to hit on the counter we've coped with the conditions far better and made Stoke pay with pretty much every opportunity we've had.

Blue 250 reacted to EFC-Paul in Ramiro Funes Mori
Considering the league and level he's previously been used to and to be pretty much thrown straight into the mix I think he's done very well
I think we'll see a much better and settled player come next season

Blue 250 reacted to Hafnia in Man of the Match v Swansea
Most certainly not lukaku, had his feet up reading the newspaper when gerry was crossing ball after ball into striker territory and that is why gerry was man of the match... and we'll done gerry for calling the lazy sod out.
I said time and time ago with Rom it's attitude and today he wasn't there.

Blue 250 reacted to nogs in John Stones
He doesn't look up for it. He's a talented lad, but let's face facts, his future won't be with us. Sell now while his stock is high, sign a solid CB to back up Jags, Mori and Galloway, a right-back and a striker.
Then do everything humanly possible to keep Lukaku and Geri.

Blue 250 reacted to AlbanyNYToffee in Martinez - Direction?
Timing seems right to point out I'm still so happy to be an Everton fan. Perhaps I'm stupid/naive/crazy but I would rather finish 8th with our club than 4th with the likes of Utd, City, Chelsea. Everton is a club full of genuinely good footballers and personalities. I would hate to have to root for Diego Costa, Yaya Toure, Memphis Depay etc. I'm still firmly entrenched in the RM camp, but there is no doubt results need to improve. Whatever happens I am so thankful this club chose me.

His three goals against Chelsea will probably have added a couple of million.
Norwich hoping his goals keep them in the prem, should start most games for them, he deserves that, good bloke!

There's a fair chance we wouldn't be in this division now if not for Moyes
-
Blue 250 reacted to Romey 1878 in Chelsea (Away)
I don't hold Martinez responsible for this today. We go 2-0 up and they get one back and the players went to bits (as per) and lost their fucking minds and let them get the equaliser straight away. There was no time for Martinez to influence things to prevent that. That is all on our players being weak mentally and falling apart.
The changes Marrtinez did make made a difference and helped us get a foothold in the game again. Indeed one of those subs set up our third fucking goal!
Then the ref and linesman fucked us over for the equaliser.
I've been one who is losing patience with Martinez but to blame him for today is total bullshit.

Just goes from strength to strength. In the first half he was absolutely superb but once he took a yellow for the team he was understandably less effective.
