You get people in life that love someone or something so much that they are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep it, even if it means killing the person or thing they love or themselves.
I think Bill lost site of the real reason he took ownership of the club, and in not wanting to give it up he nearly killed it.
And unfortunately for the fans and great for him he fell up on manager in Moyes that did miracles on a small budget, that kept the fans relatively quiet and took the focus away from him so he could just concentrate on being Mr Everton and do all the things that he needed to gain brownie points in the community and with a lot of the younger players.
Then Moyes left and things started to go to rat shit, so he sold up to hide the sham of the club’s finances and in doing so made sure he kept a high profile in the club as part of the deal. Then things got worse and worse as the years went on with the new owner who is absolutely fucking clueless, now I’m not saying Bill new at the outset that he hold to an idiot he would have believed he had sold to the right person who had the knowledge and money to make Everton a successful club, and he could have enjoyed is last year’s sat at the head of the directors box enjoying the journey and milking the adulation which we new he liked to do.
So I don’t hate because at some point or stage he believed he was doing the right thing, then that changed when his decision making and judgement was all about what was best for him to keep the reins on the club and not the club.

Is this the same players that have thrown the towel in under every manager we have had since Moyes?

    Exactly this.
The amount of points we have been deducted is quite astounding for the serverity of what Everton have actually done.
If we do end up getting relegated it will be these 8 points deducted that take of us down. I have said it before this  points deduction debarcle that we have endured all season have been like a tractor beam that has constantly pulled the team in to the relegation battle. We have a bit of breathing space of a 4 point gap on Sunday - boom we are back to being one defeat way from falling in to a relegation zone.
Being in a relegation fight brings its own anxiaty and stress to footballing squad, and we have been artificially pulled into it most of the season. I really think the stress of it all on the playing and management over pretty much the whole 23/24 season has quite easily cost us 5-6 more points (maybe more).

First season was amazing, you're right, I was so excited about where we could be going after it. The next two seasons were mind-numbing and the excitement disappeared.
For me, it wasn't even so much about the poor defending being the reason he had to go. The football in the first season was quick, direct, aggressive (that Arsenal game at Goodison where we blew them away displayed it perfectly) but, for whatever reason, he changed it to a slow, sterile nothingness. So we were shite defensively and offered very little attacking-wise as well.
Two people I know gave up their season tickets (which they'd had for probably 20 years) after his second season because they couldn't take it any more.

    Fuck me there is a
Fair enough it’s all about opinions but IMHO that first season under Martinez was superb , but once he destroyed the defensive solidity Moyes built it was probably the most tedious football I've ever seen in my life

If he's lost them then they wouldn't give a shit about that.
Their body language and effort levels does not scream that he's lost the players at all.
I get that a lot of our fans aren't keen on Dyche, I can't say I am either and I didn't want him in the first place, but all the bullshit shouts from some of you is fucking tiring and comes about every time we have a bad run of form. No matter the manager.
Why? Because we don't have a good squad and haven't for a long time. Hence the relegation battles.
Shut the fuck up whinging all the time and creating noise (not you personally, everyone that does it). Get on with supporting the team until the end of the season.

Team has won thirty-five points and the league table says we have twenty-nine, so we're self evidently better than what it says.

Based on yesterday's battling showing it would appear that he still has the support of at least 11 of the squad.

Proper Jekyll and Hyde performance from him, was slagging him off in the concourse at half time for a woeful 45 minutes where his body language was awful, he just didn’t look interested but then the second half he goes and puts in a shift like that!

Showing my age now but last time I was up there we lost 6-2 to United and I managed to miss both of our goals. Vowed never to go back and stuck to it!

I feel so fucking nervous for this today.
I'll be getting to my seat early as requested from the 1878s and doing my bit for the team all game long.
    Come on you fucking blues!

Another good cameo from him last night, if he is fit enough I would like to see him start v Burnley although at the moment he seems to have more of an impact coming off the bench

I think it would be a lot more controversial if you said he was clinical. Anyone who has ever seen him play will know that he has all the tools to be a top class centre forward ( work rate, touch, attitude, physicality, speed, positioning) except for finishing

I actually don't think there's any controversy to that. It's been pretty apparent for a while.

He was really poor for their goal last night.
Let Isak cut on to the strong foot and then that little dive to win the ball even though he was nowhere near it was pathetic. It's not the first time he's gone to ground when he shouldn't either but that will come with experience.
Tbh, he's looked off it for a little while. It was to be expected though because there was no way he was going to keep playing the way he was.
