  1. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/mancity/6831989/Manchester-Citys-Joleon-Lescott-could-be-out-for-two-months-says-Mark-Hughes.html I thought it was a good bit of business getting the money that we did for Lescott - even if the timing sucked. But it's even better if we got £20+million for him and he's still got his dodgy knees! Was it a blessing in disguise?
  2. It says we've agreed a fee, subject to him passing a medical. What's the bets Shittey come back and twist the knife in by saying that they don't want to pay the asking price having assessed Lescott's dodgy knees...
  3. I usually watch the games at this oddly named site: http://www.iraqgoals.net/ Otherwise, go to www.justin.tv just before the game starts and search for 'Everton'. It's a live streaming site so the links only usually come up just before kick off. I watched the Malaga game on here the other week, with Everton TV commentary, for free! Rhino was co-commentator!
  4. I kept having flashbacks to that mauling we got in the UEFA cup away from home the other year...
  5. ^I thought the ref had swallowed his whistle, it was going so much. We should be more savvy by now to know that you cannot get away with what you do in the prem. Most of our fouls were out of frustration more than anything else. Totally agree with Romey, complete bunch of bottlers...
  6. that was so frustrating, we were woeful. It was as if we were overawed by the occasion, why I don't know? I'm so F*ckin annoyed 'cause I know we can play so much better. All credit to Howard, without him, we'd be dead and buried. Although I don't hold out much hope of scoring 3 without reply next week. AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! - that feels better....
  7. I've heard that as well. A family friend is going out with one of the ressies and he said that he just turns up for training, does nothing, then heads off home again soon after.
  8. There is no doubting that Manny and Mikel are quality players and both would be a great asset to a team, but given the work ethic and camaradery at the club I'd try everything to keep spud, for his attitude as much as his ability. The guy obviously enjoys playing for us or he wouldn't have signed a long term deal - so he's mentioned he'd like to go back to play in Spain one day, but not now. What did Manny do, f*cked off without a buy or leave at the last second, when he thought the grass was greener at Valencia. That, in my opinion, shows what type of character he is and gives little assurance that he won't do it again. Loyalty is not a word that's often found in a footballers vocabulary these days, but I reckon you'd get more out of Mikky than Manny. I't surprises and disappoints me how many posts on here would choose to have Manny over Mikel.
  9. I was speaking to a bloke I know the other day, who's daughter goes out with Stephen Morrison who plays for the reserves. He was saying that they all hate VDM. He's meant to have been training with them (obviously training with the reserves was his punishment!?!), but all he does is turn up, do a few stretches and f@ck off home. He's obviously really learned his lesson then hasn't he....no wonder he could never finish the 90 minutes.
  10. In valente's defence, it was his cross that set up our first goal tho. i thought it was a good run out considering it's pre season, I was impressed by the quickness and accuracy of some of our passing.
  11. That was a decent first half, we played some good one touch football and look dangerous from set peices. Lets hope we can get a couple of goals in the 2nd half. PS. If anyone wants to catch the 2nd half, look for the 'sopcast' software on the internet and download it, it's a free internet tv streaming prog. I'm watching the setanta coverage for free at the mo. You just have to scroll down the channels and look for setanta1 :-)
  12. .....In five years time we might have an American Billionaire taking us over,.... That's the problem tho isn't it...might. In 5 years time if we haven't got a foreign sugar daddy to throw money at us we will be paupers in a very rich league. Look how many teams have been bought out by overseas buyers in the last 12 months, if we don't take action to increase our revenue by any means possible now, it will be too late. There's been many a post in the last month about how we are not spending, even compared to the smaller clubs. So would you rather sit in the Gwladys street watching the likes of BT go through the motions or have the financial backing to be able to attract the better class of player and hopefully watch a better class of football? Moyesy is swimming against the tide if he thinks he won't pay over the odds for players, eventually he will have to, as that is the nature of the beast that is Premiership football. And whether we like it or not we have to take what we can when the opportunities arise. Money talks in this game and sentiment doesn't pay the wages...
  13. Considering the week that the Everton web development company have had, you would think that they would be triple checking all the content they put up, so why then on a story which mentions Lescott getting the number 5 shirt, do they put - 5. Wier in the full squad listings, numptys. http://www.toffeetalk.com/style_emoticons/...ult/biggrin.gif

    Spurs

sounded like a pretty negative performance, even though i had to listen to bias spurs commentary. Strong 20 minute period at the beginning of the second half when we should have capitalised, but other than that, nothing that stated that we should have won the game. Substitutions were a farce, I am Moyes fan but i am constantly baffled by his decisions regarding subs. Bang goes our game advantage for 7th place.

    Spurs

living down south and the only way of getting free commentary is listening via bbc london. Brett Angel is co-commentator and the cheeky tw*t has just said that Arteta should be playing for a quality team! You would have thought the shelf stacking gimp would have had more loyalty for his old club!
  16. If you where looking for a manager with a serious passion for the blues, you couldn't do much better than Peter Reid. Anyone see him on Sky Sports last night after they showed the goals? - he was fuming more than Moyes was at the way we conceded. The players would soon get their a*ses in gear after a !*@!*! hairdryer treatment from Mr Reid.
  17. Davies has always puzzled me in a Blue shirt. When he wears the red of Wales he has been outstanding, especially in the last two matches they played. Whilst watching him slide thru the umpteenth pass into the channel for Bellend to run onto, I was thinking, this will be a result if he can keep repeat this kind of form for Everton, as it's just the kind of passes that Johnson thrives on - but then he comes back to us and he's lucky if he can pass wind. Do you think he feels the resentment from some of the fans when he plays for us, but not when he plays for the Taffs? As for playing him on the wing, when we did, he just wandered into the middle anyway, so you might as well leave him there.
  18. Couldn't agree with you more there Goldie. In this day and age it's a marathon not a sprint when looking for success in the top flight (apart from Chelsea of course) and I believe the club is slowly moving in the right direction. Why are we any different to any other club supporter in the Prem who will be saying exactly the same thing. Show me a supporter who will say they are completely happy with their club, whether it's the board, the team or the manager and I'll show you a liar! Clubs the size of Man Utd still gripe about the board, and they have more to worry about with the Glazers than we have with BK! How frustrated must the skunk supporters feel with the amount of money they have thrown at players over the last few years, with little or no success and if Abramovic gets bored with his little plaything, then that is Chelsea out of business overnight. We live in a throw away society these days that demands instant results, I'm sure Iain Dowie will vouch for that, but let's remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Not all Moyes buys have been great, but he has now got a decent foundation of a side that can mature into something special given time, some of Fergies buys have been stinkers, you can't get everything right all of the time. 19. "I think alot of people have very short memories ." I can't understand it either. A bloke in the boozer after the Villa game on Saturday was ranting on about how Moyes was just a championship manager and how he didn't have a clue - was he saying that after the 3-0 Derby win? I doubt it. Some fan's are far to fickle.
  20. I'm not blaming the Ref for all our bad results - JUST THIS ONE. So we didn't get a penalty against Fulham, that's football, we lost to a deflection, that's football. In this day and age swearing at a referee, that's football. I don't condone it, but it's the game these days, example: Man U v Southend, Rooney didn't get a decision, turns to Uriah Rennie and in full TV close up points at him and say's "F*ck off you" - as plain as day, no one bats an eyelid, now please tell me what do you think Faddy could have said that constitutes a red? (no Faddy gay jokes to be added here, please!). Faddy misses games because of something he allegedly said, does Poll get repremanded for allegedly telling Ashley Cole that "Chelsea needed to be taught a lesson." No. My annoyance is that Poll was a big influence in us going out of a competition and not a thing will happen to him. Inconsistency in the refereeing is ruining the game as a spectacle. I will quite happily come away from Goodison on a saturday and hold my hand up and say fair enough, we've been beaten by a better team, but not if we've come away to a defeat that has been inflenced by a very bad refereeing decision. Poll doesn't have to explain his actions to anyone, so he has no undue worries about his actions on the pitch. Any ref that can give a player 3 yellow cards, must surely be scrutinized before being allowed to referee in our top league again. I agree that ref's are only human and make mistakes, but how many does Poll have to make before someone takes action? I'm getting annoyed with him just typing this......GRRRRR!!!!!
  21. Are you forgetting that with 11 men on the pitch we held Arsenal's first team to a 1-1 draw, away from home, only a couple of weeks ago? This was never going to be an even contest from the moment Poll wanted his next 15 minutes of fame (or should that be infamy?). With a full compliment we could have won that game, christ, Faddy was sent off in the 19min and it took them until the 83rd to score, and then it was from a set piece. I completely and utterly Blame Poll for last nights defeat, there is very little that a player could surely say to a ref in this day and age that he hasn't heard before and if he reacted in that manner all the time Rooney would be permanently banned. Poll has not only cheated us out of a fair attempt to progress in a cup competition for another year, he has also hindered our attempts to maintain our league position on Saturday as those remaining 10 players that gave their all on the pitch last night have to play again on Saturday.
  22. I'm reading Scally at the moment, and I'd have to say I don't agree with this Andy Nicholls 'passion for Everton'. OK, he's a supporter, but EFC is secondary to his passion for violence. The club is just an easy outlet to have an organised scrap. Although he may have travelled far and wide to support the blues, he never seemed to watch a great deal of football, which IMO is a main factor in what supporting the club is about. I am enjoying the book, purely for the insight into a person and a way of life that I will never experience and some of the stories are amusing, but as has already been said, he is making money out of this - along with all the other books and programmes on the subject (note: danny dyer in 'the real football factories' - what a mockney t*sser). If this is the type of life he wanted to lead so be it, but he should keep it to himself, by putting it out there in print, he can never stop certain individuals being influenced by it and continuing the 'trend'. I doubt a book like this is going to tarnish the reputation of EFC so much, but it certainly doesn't do the reputation of the city of Liverpool any favours either. If the stereotype of a tracksuit wearin' robber is a tag we are happy to be labelled with, this book ticks all the boxes.
  23. I don't even know why Wier is the captain, he never say's f*ck all to the rest of the team when he is on the pitch, and id certainly not a commanding centre back. To all intents and purposes Phil Neville barks the orders anyway.
