  1. solano's second was a great strike that no amount of 'not tracking back' can account for. some of them go in, most of them don't. as for Everton, i didnt think you played too badly, but yobo was awful. we appeared capable of making a threat down our left hand side all game, and i wasnt surprised that when the goal came it was from that particular area. arteta looked good, (not quite 10/10 as the observer gave him mind you!?), but the consensus in newcastle, even from the evertonians i had a beer with after the game, was that parker made the difference. you didnt get much joy in the middle all game, and although i'm aware a few people on here seem to think he could have gone, if that were the case cahill would have been walking as well. with shearer and owen out, its a testament to the new found confidence that simply getting rid of souness has done to the club that has left fans quietly confident in such a situation. ameobi isn't a great stiker as long as i've got a hole in my arse. evertonians always seem good crack in newcastle, and its always good to have a drink after the game with like minded football fans, who are passionate about their team, capable of reasoned discussion, and like the lads i was with, couldnt give the slightest fuck about england. good luck for the rest of the season.
  2. i'm a geordie, and he has a mixed rating up here, but i like him. souness had to go, as did robson. idiots like that moron brian 'what can i say to appeal to the masses' reade in the mirror say things like 'how on earth can you sack a man like bobby robson after 4th, 3rd and 5th place finishes? well, a dire start to the season, unintelligable tactics and no team improvements = shaky ground. whatever fans say about shepherd, he has always given his managers his backing with the one thing they want: money. souness spent way over the odds on luque and boumsong, but i don't think we went overboard on parker and emre. 4m for emre was great, and parker is a 6m player. he's certainly been our best outfield player this season alongside owen, when the latter has played of course. of course, the big question is why he was there in the first place. well, the names being thrown around were pretty terrifying. not only souness, but also venables, o'leary, bruce etc. no-one who we actually want. now, there seem to be a few names i'd like. then again, anyone would be better than souness.
  3. although, lets be honest, he's not breaking the rules, he's just bending them. i'm sure if james beattie played as pshysically as shearer does, and came up with the goals to justify those tactics, you'd laud him as a fantastic striker.
