I've remained hopeful for this drunken, junky mentalist since the day he signed and i'm still hanging to the glimer of hope that he can play some part but with every comeback speech he makes the hope fades. Who knows, if he's going to prove himself nows the time, he wouldn't have to do much to stand out at the moment.

I read somewhere Moyes saying Castillio is seen as the Carsley type player although he likes to fly forward on occasion. Fellieni is our Gerrard!!

i had hopes he'd turn out to be a shining light in our doom and gloom transfer dealings, why am i suprised that this has happend!! Perhaps saha will stay injury free and bang in 20 plus goals............blah blah lets just give up and look forward to next season.

If he pulls his finger and starts wanting it a bit more like he used to he'll be a good player to have in the squad if he's cheap. At this point i think it can only be a good thing.

he looked good against Liverpool and is only young. is he always that good though or was it a fluke and we're trying to get him off the back of a couple of good games at inflated prices??!?? hopefully not.

I'm sure he plays wide on the left for nigeria. This could be a pretty exciting player, fast and likes to take people on, its what we've been missing. really hope it goes through, don't see him beinga regular straight away but defo good to have something a bit different.

If he passes the medical and can have a couple of spells injury free i think its a good signing. We know he can score goals, we don't need him to play week in week out as we either play just the yak or we've got the two young lads. undisclosed fee but can't be alot. Reckon its pretty good, better than Larsson. Seal that Nigerian lad and get Moutinho and things are looking a little better.

He doesn't want to re-join city because of this that and the other and he doesn't want to join us.........just because! or possibly because he wouldn't make much out of a loan deal or chelsea said if your going we want the money rather than loan you out. He's nothing special anyway, wouldn't want to fork out £10m!!

we've always been linked with him in the past so now he's free i'm sure its being looked at. Think there was some injury problems in Turkey and some sort of fall out but who actually cares at this point.

can't remember him doing anything at villa??????? when i saw him in the euro's i thought they must have short?? maybe i'm wrong but a lad who didn't do much at villa isn't very exciting, perhaps he's come good?

He's a fringe england player the same as AJ, i think he started more games upfront for england than aj did pal!! Therefore its like for like but a good bit of money made and as someone else said its money we're investing elsewhere other than on a striker. We've got Vic and Vaughn and will prob play Yak with cahill behind anyway in a lot of games. Agreed if we were offing AJ and looking for a striker to partner yak week in week out then he's not a good signing but i don't think thats the thinking in this case. Agreed its probably alot of wages. Might not be coming anyway..........???

He was great at leeds, he was good enough for united, for £3m you've got to say in our present position with regards to numbers he's worth a shot without a doubt. Look at it this way we've lost and england b teamer for £10.5m and poss. replaced him with another for £3m. If he doesn't start every week then nor did AJ, if he doesn't score every week/month nor did AJ. Aslong as he puts in the effort when he's on the pitch like the rest of the players its a sensible bit of business............if it happens.

Keegans just been on the radio saying nobodies leaving???? Unless that interviews old and radio 1 wheeled it out fo effect it Smith must be a no go..........like the new stadium. Wonder how that decisions going to effect Moyes' contract signing?

He's a moyes type player i think, works hard on the pitch, comitted every game, british and fergie rated him enough to buy him therefore i think if he's availible for that figure we'll get him. Good player to have in the squad, obviously not the grand signing everyones hoping for but if he's one of 5/6 new faces i'm happy with it.

Alan Smith was a good player a couple of years back and i'd have been glad of him when we first attempted to buy him. He's gone way off the boil since united and has been played in every position going but for the £1.5m they're talking about i'd be happy with that. Replacement for AJ and can play in midfield if needed. Makes sense.
