  1. Really bummed, but didn't expect 6 against Chelsea and Leicester... honestly had expected maybe a point from the two... If results hold, we're four point from basically being safe.
  2. Burnley and Southampton, in my eyes, are Real Madrid and Bayern. Amazing they're down, expecting a dramatic win for both in the second half.
  3. Lawrence Stroll has to be one of the few men on Earth that could make the Aston Martin name and brand easy to root against.... Hope the Williams name doesn't disappear but they sure could use the backing of a major manufacturer, even if it diminishes their independent heritage.
  4. I really think wins against all three of Brentford, Palace, and Watford are unlikely... Think we need to find a surprise result against Leicester/Chelsea/Arsenal and hope that Burnley's form drops again. Burnley's run in is pretty much a joke. Dark times.
  5. Seems like he's fine though will certainly be sore for a few days. Thank God - that's the sort of crash that could've killed a driver 20-30 years ago...
  6. haha, made up for Haas and Magnussen. Great race for Alfa as well. McLaren and Aston had absolute shockers. They both look way off the pace. I mean, Lawrence Stroll is his own worst enemy, right? As for McLaren, I quite like Lando and Zak Brown so hope they get it sorted
  7. Oh, man... So enjoyable to watch him stick it next to Lewis and above Russell in a Sauber (Alfa).... even if Russell messed up his lap. Bottas also 9 places above his teammate, though I believe Zhou's first time in Q2 was on old tires and his second got DQ'd for track limit violations. Also, as many know, I'm a yank so absolutely delighted to see what KMag has pulled out of the Haas car... Schumacher looking sporty as well. So nice to see that team field a half competitive car again and without the clown Mazepin with the Russian livery to boot... Other thoughts: Aston looking pitiful... for all the hype around them, Mr Stroll certainly seems to be struggling for results (hmm... sounds familiar to Everton and Moshiri!). McLaren also scarily lacking in pace. Hopefully further career redemption to come for Albon if he consistently runs laps around Latifi and puts an uncompetitive car into decent positions. Ferrari and RB neck and neck, hopefully Checo can continue to close the gap to Max. Anyways, foolish of me to have takeaways after one qualifying session!
  8. Interesting - not that Russia has ever had a huge contingent in England but you'd think there'd be at least a few given Russia's a decent enough footballing nation. Funny you guys mention it, and maybe I'm wrong here, but it seems like Germany and Italy get more of Eastern Europe's best (maybe its just proximity) than England?
  9. ^ Somewhat curious about this, as well. Seemed we had next to nothing to spend in the summer, so curious why 6 months later we can start paying out meaningful transfer fees - curious if it is because we've rolled over to 2022 and if FFP is judged on annual/multi annual bases. Think this joke (you and young keeper's) is a least a decade old now . Here's to the next decade of broken dreams
  10. He's stood in the cold rain without a jacket on when he yanked Moise Kean off. That's hard .
  11. You've been watching Everton long enough to know that we will certainly do so.
  12. And then after one magical season took the squad to 11th two seasons in a row on 47 points... That was after he got to shape the squad with more of his signings, many of which were diabolical. Martinez briefly tapped magic but then things went completely south and we were performing well below the standard set under Moyes. By the end, were couldn't defend or create going forward. He's a lovely man and we had some great moments, but 2/3rd of Martinez's time here was mediocre at best.
  13. As an American who grew up watching other sports before loving football, I've always thought football law or the way its enforcer with regards to violent conduct is unbelievably soft. Like cmon, one little shove or a very soft "headbutt" and that warrants making the game 10 vs 11 (altering it) + a 3 game suspension? It's just kinda pathetic for a physical game. That being said, players have to live within the laws of the game (and how they're enforced), so a professional needs to keep his head about him.
  14. Weird move to the UAE in the middle of his career (28 years old) - either they're the only ones that'll take on his wages or hopefully they're paying him several multiples of what he could earn in another competitive league... Have to think he would alright for himself in Spain or France.
  15. The worst thing I've ever witnessed watching a football match live. Hands down. Amazing response from the medical staff, class by the fans staying in and chanting. Simon Kjaer appears to have acted like quite a hero today, consoling Eriksen's girlfriend, rushing to Eriksen's side - the Danish players fantastic for building a wall for privacy. Amazing ending though, that he's conscious and speaking and that his condition improved rapidly. What a miracle today was - could've been a tragedy....
  16. I've been a three times for leisure. I generally try to go "abroad", as while the States have plenty of neat cities and beautiful scenery, culturally it's a bit monolithic. Portugal was my personal favorite.
  17. Also considering Greece in August/September, but obviously a much longer haul from the States... I'm still not certain about long haul travel given the U.S. reentry testing requirements (highly inconvenient, if fair).
  18. There's a nihilistic cynical view that just wants to watch this to see the chaos and how bad the ESL and associated fallout is. Not my point of view, but there are moments where I just want to be rid of all the greed in this game and I'm like "let it happen. let these bastards have what they want"
  19. Great gift. I was unaware of this thread, but certainly we could probably all add a lot more to a "booze thread" after 2020... Mark, I've never found a Malbec I could enjoy much - Do you have other wino friends that have opinions on them? I'm curious if most people are like me with a binary (I "like" or "don't like") Malbecs. As for me, I've found Tempranillos (and Spanish wine in general) to be good value for money. The tempranillo is full-bodied and tasty, but isn't as in your face as a lot of my local California reds...
  20. This. I honestly wish we had just Koeman a bit more time to try and find our feet - It was going to be a lost season, but no way we would've gotten relegated. Watching Allardyce was painful.
  21. Per usual, he sets an example of being a decent guy, good citizen, and a role model in using his influence and resources to help others... Class act - I hope that someone recognizes his talent and that he can become some sort of spokesperson for a football charity when his playing days end.
  22. I don't believe Everton had training today either. Seriously people need to get a life - if he is consistently underperforming in training due to being hungover or going out on the town the night before matches, it'd be an issue. Otherwise, he's enjoying his 20's like most of the Twitter critics did/do.
  23. Zero chance of Pochettino. He's tempting United to sack Solskjaer. Otherwise, he'll wait for that job, or perhaps entertain Arsenal or tempt Bayern. Real Madrid are never too long from a managerial vacancy either....
  24. Great business minus centerback, which could prove to be scary. Completely reliant on Keane continuing good form and Mina coming good, both of which are shaky. After that, thinking about the cover behind them is just frightening.
