  1. Cheebs! - Apart from Jags' goal, I think he was the only one who even had a shot, never mind a shot on target. Arteta was poor today, as was Saha, and Jags is no right back. To be honest, I think the whole team had already given up on the (very remote) possibility of qualifying for Europe even before kick off today. It would have been nice to have seen a little more fight and passion - but as we've seen a few too many times this season - we haven't been able to break teams down and haven't shown up for the full 90 minutes. Don't get me wrong, Stoke are hard to beat at home, and I was fully expecting a draw, I'm just annoyed with what, again, is a disappointing performance from the lads.
  2. Dire! Roll on next season already.
  3. We need to go there and start off brightly, I think if we can get an early goal and dominate possession from the off they might capitulate, especially after last weeks drubbing. However, Stoke have been hard to beat at home all season and a lot of teams have struggled there. My head says a one all draw, though I'd like to see us nick it in at the last 2-1.
  4. Unbelievable. We need to be killing games off much, much earlier, ffs.
  5. Well, we've no chance of catching Villa now - mathematically impossible. Vila just beat Brum 1-0. To be honest, Brum were unlucky not to have taken anything out of that game. Our hope now lies with Burnley, Chelsea and Hull doing us favours against the RS. They (RS) need only 4points from those three games to guarantee a top 7 finish - I reckon they'll get 6. We could theoretically catch City, but they'd need to lose their remaining three games by an average of about 5 goals. This is all based on the assumption that we win all our remaining games. If Burnley pull of a surprise today I may change my mind, but realistically, I think we'll be "concentrating on the league" next season
  6. Can't see this happening. Seems like Arteta does not like him at all, and may rock the boat a bit too much. Me personally, I thought he was half decent until he did that memorable dive (Dive In), then I just lost all respect for him.
  7. I take it that's the love child of Tony Hibbert and Franck Ribery
  8. Sorry, but I can't vote for any of these topics. With regard to favourite thread - Honestly, my favourite thread this season has been the one I started about predictions. However, I don't believe in voting or even nominating myself, the other (listed) threads I wasn't really turn on by - sorry! As for best mod/admin - whoever it was that sorted out the hosting problems we had in January, then he/they are the winners for me, cos without them there's be no voting, no threads no nothing.
  9. Looks like Villa are gonna take another three points in their final game in hand against Hull tonight - almost half time and 1-0 up. That'll put them in sixth - 2pts ahead of RS, and 7 ahead of us.
  10. For my tuppence worth, for a free transfer, I could take the chance. As said above, he's got a bit of worthy experience, is an international player, not too old, I personally don't think he's any worse than Distin or Yobo, so I don't see why not. Of course, he's no Terry or Ferdinand, or Jags for that matter, but there aren't many who are. He'd get into most teams in the Prem, so why not, at least back up, in ours. Ok, granted, we don't have the best defence in the league, but (for me) more important for us is to make sure we're putting goals away at the other end of the pitch. If we can get good-halfdecent cover at the back at a 'reasonable' (or:free) price that means we can spend more on keeping Pienaar and adding more attacking options.
  11. I can see the point, that maybe a season out of Europe may do us good at home - ie: challenging for top four and maybe a domestic cup. But personally, I love watching my team play - as frustrating and heartbreaking as it is sometimes - And I love watching my team play in Europe and competing against some of the best teams on the continent. From my (spectator's) point of view, the more games we play, the better. However, saying that I'd like to see us win something. If not playing in Europe next year, will help us do that then perhaps I'd be willing to sacrifice those dozen or so extra games. And of course if we do win something then we'll qualify for Europe the season after. So in short, yes I would like us to be in Europe next season, but if we're not, then I'd be expecting nothing less than a top four finish and a domestic cup trophy
  12. Thought Pompey were gonna do it for us then for a minute. Never looked liked winning though, it was only a matter of time till villa get the second. Did I ever tell you I quite like Hull
  13. As far as I'm concerned, the more points the teams above us drop the better, whether it's Villa or RS. As for Portsmouth, I agree with everything Moyes has said on the subject.
  14. There's been some surprising results this weekend lads. Arsenal? Chelsea? Lets hope Portsmouth can continue that trend and do us a big favour.
  15. I reckon, Aston Villa: Portsmouth (a)Villa, Hull (a)Villa, Birmingham (h)Draw, Man City (a)City, Blackburn (h)Draw - That gives Villa 8 points Liverpool: West Ham (h), Burnley (a), Chelsea (h), Hull (a) 3 Wins, Lose to Chelsea:- 9pts Everton: Fulham (h), Stoke (a), Pompey (h)We have to get 9 points, no matter what That equals Liverpool:56+9=65 Villa:55+8 =63 Everton:54+9=63 It'll go down to goal difference. Considering we're likely to win our games be only 1 goal(given we're leaking so many), and Villa 3 ahead, I'd give it to Villa - depending on how many they lose to City by ;P However, to look at it a slightly different way. Liverpool need 8pts from 4 games and Villa need 9 from 5. Either way, it could be close, but we've got to rely on other people dropping points, and that's not really the position to be in.
  16. Relief. I've forgotten how good a feeling that was. Still, not at all happy with the way we are literally leaking goals.
  17. I'm taking bets on 3-3
  18. ha ha ha, gotta laugh, what the else can you do. fucking hell!
  19. 10 nervy minutes left. Will we concede?
  20. An attacking sub, forward thinking, what a substitution!
  21. Good start, but still looking shaky at the back. Can definitely see us conceding. Saying that, we could have have scored another one or two. Hopefully, we're gonna come out with a bit more ruthlessness and see this game off properly. We played them off the park in the first 15-20 minutes, would like to see a bit more of that and us being a bit more clinical in the final third.
  22. Dreamt last night it was 2-0 by half time, so I'm going with that. However, missed the second half, and the way things have been going lately, we'll probably end up coming away with a point: 2-2! Was also thinking the other day, how things would be if we'd have go the points we've dropped over the past few games, we might have been able to give some of the younger lads (Duffy, Coleman (if with us), etc) a run out during the run in. It's a pity (in a way), that we'll probably see the strongest squad we've got available for all the remaining games. Not complaining about that, just saying it would have been nice to see the young lads given some experience.
