KillaGTiR
The Premier League has granted special permission for Everton to sign Arsenal third-choice keeper Mart Poom on loan after a combination of injury and idiocy stripped the squad of three goalkeepers in a matter of weeks. With Everton number one Nigel Martyn recovering from ankle surgery, first the hapless Richard Wright managed to injure himself warming up for Everton’s FA Cup replay against Chelsea; then Iain Turner inexplicably handled outside the area against Blackburn last weekend, earning himself a suspension for Everton’s upcoming league trip to St. James’ Park. In light of these catastrophes, Everton have been allowed a temporary signing outside the transfer window, and Poom is expected to start against Newcastle

GoldfishMemory
Bit of a kick in the nuts for Ruddy after a good game! I thought he was gona bring in cover for the bench, not impressed TBH think the young lads deserve a chance and will Poom remain in goal once Turners suspension is over? I would honestly put him on the bench and leave our players in our goal as they will already have a level of understanding with the defence!! Rob W
Poom is/was a good goalie, take him on loan with a view to perm i think. maybe offer them Wright in exchange, see if Wenger will fall for it again!
Ian
is he under contract at arsenal then? i thuoght he had been loaned to them til the end of the season they prob av bought him i just go around wid me head up me arse
scouse
Yeah they signed him on a free in Jan. Poom is a better keeper than Wright, and has the experience above Turner and Ruddy. Yeah could be a kick in teath for Ruddy, but I am sure he is aware that with his young age and lack of first team not just prem experience it is the correct decision. Ps have we offically sign Poom? Adam
Don't beleive so. Have not seen anything saying that we have signed him. Only a week to go til the next match maybe DM is waiting for people to come for a trial first. Maybe this new goalkeeper of 19 is going to cover. Bill
Yeah, POOM MUST GO STRAIGHT IN IMO. 50.000, BEER SWILLIN, FAT GUTTED GEORDIES, SCREAMING ABUSE AT YOU IS TOO MUCH TO ASK OF YOUNG RUDDY. If we were at home i would say yes, RUDDY or TURNER, but its a bit different at St James's Park.
