I feel the same way about him that I did Walcott and wilshere.  We should be aiming for better than arsenal castoffs if we want to surpass arsenal.

He’s a first team player and arguably there best player. We won’t get him because here will be a queue of champions league teams for him.

Hes a cut above anything we have.

he doesn't play that far back.  he plays where gylfi play or out on the left or right.  compare him with richarlison and walcott.

Or play him with all three and have 1 DCM ;) though it sounds like Gomes will play that role, it’d be good to have competition of such high standards

you must not watch them, ozil plays on the left like he did at madrid and like silva does for city.  ramsey plays as the 10 in the middle.  he doesn't play dropped back, that's xhaka.

He's predominantly central. Up to Jan this year Arsenal had Ozil behind the striker and Sanchez on the left.

Ozil has played mostly behind the striker https://www.transfermarkt.com/mesut-ozil/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/35664

He’s certainly played on the left this season. I was reading an article within the past couple of days when he was saying it’s not his position but he’ll play wherever he’s told and adapt.

FWIW Ramsey is an all round midfielder.  I like him but would sooner see what gomes offers once up to speed.

No point in conparing Ramsey to Gana.  Gana has made as many tackles as Ramsey in 200 less games.  Ramsey is a top passer, and creates assists.

Great player bit it will be like buying so getting on eBay for 99p and noticing the postage and packing is £100. There is talk of £300k a week and £35m signing on fee.

Link? That seems unlikely, but if true, we have to pass because that is ridiculous.

Midfield two behind gylphi, !! Do you drop Gana or Gomes or is gylfi playing centre forward, I can't make out what your saying Steve.   He plays gylfi's position.

We currently play with Gana and Gomes behind Gylfi in a two. Personally I’d drop either Gana or Gomes for him, he’s much better than both. For me the natural one to be dropped though would be Gana as he is the one who is getting forward and back more (albeit Gana makes a lot more tackles) they are both very mobile in the middle. I don’t believe for one minute Ramsey is best as a number ten (Gylfi’s position) as I see him as a complete midfielder who can do everything. With Gylfi in the number ten position and another player sitting deep Ramsey could really make us tick.

Wont happen anyway, out of our league. He will go to another club and dominate games from the centre of the park, if given the right backing.

There aren’t many all round midfielders left anymore. Seems you have to have a bunch of specialists in there, one who can defend, one who can attack, all that rubbish. A midfileder who can do everything would make a huge difference. That’s why Keane and Viera were so good.

Best box to box midfielders I've seen in no particular order:-

Keane

Gerrard

Viera

Seedorf

Matthaus

Scholes

Gazza

Schweinsteiger

Some great players on that list.

Was a huge fan of Schweinsteiger, I was so excited to see him in the flesh for United at Goodison. He didn’t disappoint. Nothing too flashy, was just always in the right position when the ball dropped loose, would then just move the ball on to a team mate very quickly and then move himself to another area to give the option to take the ball back and advance. Was great to watch, simple, purposeful and effective. Toni Kroos has gone on to be a very similar player for me, probably just tries to show more flair, Schweinsteiger didn’t really need it.

Haf, would you add Xavi Alonso to that list? His game changed as he got older but in his Liverpool years he was unreal.

Yeah.... Maybe. I seen him more as a deep lying playmaker rather than box to box if I'm honest. Great player though.

So your midfield 3 is gylfi Ramsey and Gomes.  Who’s gonna defend the back and win the call back?  None of them do much tackling.

They're all capable of keeping hold of the ball so we'd have more possession. Ramsey doesn't shirk out of tackles and as I've already banged on Gana makes needless tackles. We finished higher without him amazingly without having anyone put in a 1000 tackles a game.
