Whats Up With Everton....

Recommended Posts

mansion - the gaming organisation that practically runs america wanted to invest in the premiership via Man Utd.

but Man Utd were not entirely certain that having a gambling organisation across their shirt was the best idea. So they looked elsewhere and annoyed mansion who pulled the plug on a 5yr deal reportedly worth £75m (£15m a year).

Okay we could not demand that kind of money from anybody but why cant we jump on the bandwagon and offer the Mansion group another route into the premiership?! Say for £5m a year?!?!

Why oh why cant we find an investor?

I agree Rowlo.

Only seems like Everton where peple are not be reported to be intested in investing in the club.

We're not a global brand,we're not succesful and we have a tit for a chairman thats why we dont attract investment

It would be nice to have a few quid, but are we prepared to sell our soul?

F*CK YES

Sell it to the highest bidder, the essence of the club is within us, not a multi-corporation conglomerate. Let's sell our arse on the world scene, let them arse rape us as long as they pay. We have survived all kinds of nastiness, in this world of cash talks take the money and let's buy some success.

I love you all, goodnight.

I would say I have had a pint of Vinapena, Tempranillo, maybe two.

But my point still stands, why should we take the moral high ground and say "at least we haven't sold out".

Fu*k it, sell out and make a few quid.

Everyone else is why not us????????????.

do we want to be owned by the russian mafia like chelsea, or america inc., like manu?

theres a lot to be said for remaining a british club, even if your best players are foreigners.

having said that marketing is now an essential skill for raising revenue and there is a lot we could and should be doing to raise our profile at home and overseas.

the latter will only come when we can do a good job in europe, i expect that to be next season, not this one.

so marketing should begin at home. it can include all kinds of activity, both market and community related.

sponsorship is a little different. its important to have a respectable sponsor or else it will affect you marketing negatively. so its not just whoever comes up with the ready cash.

i dont know who we have on the management side that deals with that kind of thing, maybe no-one, but it should be a priority.

Not that I EVER disagree with fozzie but...

Portsmouth aren't exactly a global brand either - they haven't even got a proper club shop - tranmere's puts them to shame.

there not in London either...so what's the attraction there?

Why would anybody in their right mind want to buy Aston Villa for example?

Selling the club aside, go back to my original point.

Mansion gaming where reported to be willing to part with around £15m a year to put their name on Man Utd's shirt.

Fucks sake - they can do it on our shirts for £5m and build a casino in the ground and if it means we can buy top players I dont even mind calling it....

Mansion stadium, Goodison park.

I reckon that Mansion may even pop in an extra few quid just so that we could build a team to finish above the mancs for a classic 'told you so' jibe!

Why oh why is BK not finding these glorious opportunities?!

It is important to have the right sponsorship for imaging purposes but do you really think that Chang is a good sponsor or Carlsberg?

do you think that having a gambling co. on our shirts is going to stop other investors? I seriously doubt it. I dont think that the companies in Merseyside would objcet ot still having their hordings all around the ground.

Sky would probably latch on to it as well and form some sort of dodgy partnership and the money would flow.

Can't see it being a bad thing - I really cant, i mean West ham got away with 'Jiffy' the condom company.

yes i do. both are excellent.

gambling is a problem tho. its been a source of corruption in sport, including football. rooneys gambling debts have recently come to the attention of the fa and even sven erikson has felt it necessary to speak to him about it.

Java, I applaud your sense of morality and wish I could take a stand on these matters which you are able to, I can't (that doesn't mean to say I think you're wrong, far from it).

All through the hooligan years, mid 70's to early 90,s, there was no more negative image than football in general. Sky has changed that beyond all recognition and made football fashionable and we now stand on the cusp of a new era in football, we now have stadia named after sponsors, it is only a matter of time before a teams name is changed to include some element of financial interference.

I wish it were not so, but heart v head time, we have to move with the times or lose our footing in an essential and lucrative part of the modern game.

There has to be a line over which you can't cross in respect of what name can you have sharing the shirt with the badge which means so much to us all, but recently that line can be shifted with a little financial encouragement.

As long as there is a sh*t load of cash involved I could not give a monkey's toss, just a personal POV.

AS is alcohol - Paul Merson can vouch for that

Kilbane is always on the ale

VDM is always on the Ale

anyone remember drunken duncan

Paul Gascoigne

the list goes on - yet brewery companies are accepted morally - why?

Alcohol whatever Moral take last I recalled was still a legal conusmable.

Arguably, Sweets & confectionary & fast junk food comapnies are as much an evil .

Yet Cadburry, Mcdonalds, Coca Cola & the likes all have massive affiliations with Junior sport on a global scale & continue to pour multi millions in to sport via sponsorship, merchandising & promotion.

Big Tobbaco used to subsidise sport in a massive way, now it' simply Big Booze.

And yes it all comes down to the amounts of Mooolah they throw at sports. associations, clubs & individuals etc.

Yep - and the reason they do that (McD's, Coke etc, Marlboro etc.) is to improve their reputation by buying it. And it works...

Gambling is legal in this country - casinos are legal in this country. If mansion or any other gaming house want to put money in the game why is it anymore visually unacceptable than a brewery?!

Great opinions here, but I feel all football clubs are prostitutes, they will sell themselves to the highest bidder, all we are discussing is are we a high class £5000 a night or a £20 for a f*ck Lime Street scrubber?.

gambling is a problem in sport that can, and has in the past, led to corruption. booze hasnt.

so i would say a brewery is a better sponsor than a gambling company.

having said that i dont think booze should be sold at matches.

most fans are responsible, its a case of the rest of us having to do without for the sake of the morons.
