FairWooney
i'm still not too sure. i think their too similar and someone "like" bent would be more suited. was mcfadden on the bench on sunday as I didn't see him??
Ian
yeah he was on the bench, well he came out at half time so i presume he was! ive gone off bent, when he first came altough he is never gonna be a top quality striker his work rate was never in question. He now looks to get in sulks if it doesnt go his way and looks half arsed most of the time now. Maybe thats why hes had the amount of clubs he has? i think if charlton do come in for him ( i heard a 1 million offer in jan) then i think we whould sell him, gives us an extra mill to prize away RK

I'm not sure. Would prefer (and need) a poacher - and Nugent would be ideal as he seems to pop up when not expected - just like the good poachers in the game - owen, cole etc. Having said that, we also need somebody who can accurately shoot from the edge of the box - Davies had a good effort against Chelski but that was about it from outside of the box - it never really troubled Cech though! We just need someone who is going to sit in the opposition defense and cause them trouble. we seem to get 'sucked' into our own defence a lot and we hardly ever leave anyone upfront to cause problems on the counter attack (although BT and arteta made chelski shake yesterday as they countered very, very well). Guest fozzie22
Its typical of the lack of ambition the board shows that we couldnt even go for cole..ok he would have been a one season wonder but the man knows where the net is. Something we have been lacking in this season.

I have said for a while that WE should have gone for Cole - as Fozzie says - one season wonder - but look what he is doing for Shity city. Oh well.... Lets hope that BT starts to find the net - lets hope that he can stay on the pitch - give him a chance - I reckon 5 full starts on the 'trot' to see what he is really made of...If he hasn't scored after 5 starts, then I will accept that he is total poo! rowlo-efc
Teddy Sheringham, Nigel Martyn, Andrew Cole, Zola .. the list is endless <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ravanelli Ginola Why not buy an 'out-of-date' good striker - sometimes they come good because they think that they have a 'new lease on life' Andy Cole - career was all but dwindling and then City snapped him up...I can remember thinking that it was a bad move by Pearce - But i have already been proven wrong. What about Vaughan - he has to 'emerge' at some point. (I know that he is injured until November) - but he looked alright against Palace last year and he looks alright for the reserves - is it time to throw him into the fray and see whether he is a man or a mouse!? I can't wait to see Vaughan back in the squad, he's looked very promising every time i've seen him and there's a lot of hype surrounding him at Everton and we all remember the last time that happened! thebluenose
actually. we shouldnt give him too many games. let him progress and mature slowly and drip feed him in to the first team. because the last thing we need is another rooney. If he is good enough though - if he has the arrogance needed to face top defenders, then we should give him his chance.

djlduffy
Beattie and Ferguson for me with Bent replacing Fergie after 60 mins. That way Bent can run round like twit for 30 mins without his head dropping like it has been of late.

jared
I think Bent has more attacking flair and pace to get forward, even he doesn't hold the ball well at times. And he has an eye on goal too more than Big Dunc. Big Dunc's pace is getting undone by his older age, except for winning headers and some motivation. EFC fan in oz
Think it should be Beattie and Dunc at the moment as i don't see Bent do alot than run around the field closing down players or missing whenever he has an opportunity to score. My preffered partnership at the end of the season if we don't sign any new forwards would be Beattie and Vaughn though .

My preffered partnership at the end of the season if we don't sign any new forwards would be Beattie and Vaughn though . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dunc's Pace? He has never had that much pace - what he has got is a unique presence that scares most defences in the country. He has also got a decent first touch - both with his head and his feet. He is a good player because he brings an air of expectation to the side and fills other 'more timid' players with confidence. Who is going to crunch Arteta when fergie is about? Ask the bucharest player about that one - lived to regret that harsh tackle!!! Huth - next time chelsea come knocking - Fergie will be waiting for this guy! BlueBird
Earnshaw is the poacher we need. Fast and has scored hat tricks at every level. Robson doesn't like him (despite being their top scorer even from the bench)
Ian
i dont rate earnshaw meself, hes just another bent IMO, theres only one man for the job and we all know who that is..... ...peter crouch (or RK eithers good )
BlueBird
How can you compare Earnshaw to Bent, they are completely different players in physique, style and goals scored. Everton should also seriously be looking at Koumas, he is having a storming season for Cardiff. Also speaking of Cardiff Cameron Jerome at 18 yrs old may be an option. He is strong fast and an england under 21.
Ian
i can rate them both the same like this, there both shite ive just added another tenner to the 200 odd i spend on me season ticket and bent is shite, another shit performance by the blues, no heart. Earnshaw has always been hit and miss, he can score you a good goal but then miss a howler (as can bent...so thats how i can compare) disagree with Koumas aswell, if he cant cut it at WBA then how can he cut it with us? u never know though, he mite be different if he came to us...
BlueBird
Watching Koumas in the championship and the guy is so obviously premiership standard. Rosbson just doean't like him. As for Earnshaw being hit and miss, maybe he is but he gets more opportunities than most and scores lots of goals in poor teams (just what we need) and his pace is blistering. I have no doubt he could do a good job with our lumpy forwards to back him up.
EFC fan in oz
lol rowlo don't know why you copied my post into yours i never even mention Dunc's pace and even say that he should be partnering Beattie. After today's performance these two should definitly be the preffered choice until at least january as they can attack and also defend and Beattie was also getting on the end of some of Dunc's flick on's.
