EFC fan in oz
http://www.tribalfootball.com/april/englishnews6190406.html Apparently we've clinched a deal to sign this kid from Oldham sounds quality and is a striker. Be great if it's true although i've never heard of him anyone know anything about him?
Adam
No nothing about it but its also in the sun today saying that a deal will be completed this week after he agreed a two year deal??? If he is that good why we only signing him on a two year deal?? is it something to do with his age???
Bill
Does this mean Annichobe and Vaughan, get shoved to the back of the Queue, or does it mean one of them will be released and packed off. "The new Wayne Rooney" ha ha ....suppose that means he'll end up at United then.
KillaGTiR
http://www.eatsleepsport.com/news_details....&l_id=3&t_id=57 Everton boss David Moyes has won the race to sign Oldham's highly rated striker Scott Spencer and he is close to agreeing a deal. Spencer is a 6ft plus striker who has been labeled the new Wayne Rooney and Everton should be able to land him for considerably less than they sold Rooney for as he is out of contract at Boundary Park. The 17-year-old is available for around £250,000 and would come in to further strengthen the forward line

"The new Wayne Rooney" ha ha ....suppose that means he'll end up at United then. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is the thing that worries me as well TL. Not that he will end up at UTD but the other youngsters will be pushed down the pecking order. I think I read maybe over the weekend that DM has said that Annichobe will get some games before the end of the season. Only 3 left so does that mean he will come on for the last 2 minutes of the last game??
Londonblue
Who was that short asse Scottish 'Spencer' we signed. He was a mouthy little git. that's all i can remember about him........ unsure:
GoldfishMemory
Its hard because if he puts the kids in and we loose all our remaining games some sections of our support will say he threw the towel in when he should have been going for Europe. Catch 22!
bassman
Had a quick look at the latics official website. could not be arsed to sign up, but there is a story saying Everton and Oldham agree compensation for this kid.

bassman
The new Wayne Rooney?? Better lock up your grannies than TTrs! little snippet from THE PEOPLE website. SCOTT TO BE BLUES NEW ROO By Alan Nixon Everton are trying to sign the next Wayne Rooney - teenage striker Scott Spencer from Oldham's highly-rated academy. Speedy and strong Spencer has been rattling in goals for the Latics' youth sides and has scored over 20 times this season. Now Everton are close to agreeing a fee and will have to pay as much as £200,000 down plus instalments for the 16-year-old starlet. Bolton have also been trying to sign Spencer for months, but Everton think the Manchester-born forward is the best around at his age and will pay a decent price to get him. Oldham discovered Micah Richards before losing him to Manchester City. Edited April 19, 2006 by bassman
EVA
Its delighted that we try to unearth talents at their early ages. I mean even if this spencer turn out did not develop into a decent player, there is not much harm ---- becasue of the cheap price. For 5 if 1 come really good, it worths. Adam
Today Oldham Athletic have announced that they have agreed terms with Everton for young star Scott Spencer. Spencer is one of the hottest talents for his age and has aroused interest from many premiership clubs including Bolton Wanderers, who had a bid turned down for the youngster. The fee is thought to be around 200k up front with the fee rising depending on his progress and sell on clause. The move is still subject to Spencer agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. Same as CC can't be arsed to sign up to an oldham weblsite but found this at same time as looking. The Oldham website link says that the youngster is moving on. StevO
29 goals and three hat-tricks, i know its a lower level but that is a crackin record even at youth level!
Ian
lets hope he gets a game, otherwise what another pointless young talent signing arsenals youngsters wer given a chance and look at them now <_< take a gamble davey!!
rob
So, we sign a very highly rated striker and people moan that: a) he'll push other young strikers further down the pecking order. What if he's better than them? Should we not sign him simply because it'll stop Vaughan (who's career is hanging by a limb) and Anichebe (who has done nothing to suggest he is anywhere near ready for regular first team football anyway) from progressing? and Moyes won't ever play him. Why is he bothering to sign him then? Why did he sign Vidarsson? For a laugh? Maybe, just maybe, the ones who aren't getting in the first time and the ones who have been shown the door aren't ready yet, and maybe never will be? Just a thought like. thebluenose
bearing in mind vidarrson has only recently turned 18 (same age as me bro exactly) he should be given his chance either next season or last game
StevO
i want to see some of these kids, but who would you want to drop to get Vidarsson in? Cahill? Arteta? Osman? i'll let him wait a little while longer if we have to, as long as we dont let him go to waist

Philinsuffolk
Ok, so we have apparently agreed a fee with Oldham, but has he actually signed yet? Until he has signed, I just epxect some other club to come in and grab him. Moyes - if you want a player, effing well sign the player, I'm one of your supporters but the Dithering bit needs to go! RuffRob
http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/men/spor...r_everton_.html sounds promising. Noth bothered about him shifting any of our other young prospects down the pecking order. The best will rise to the top - Even if only one made it as a Prem striker that would be great, but if we had two come from the youth, then happy days. thebluenose
well in recent years weve had rooney hibbert osman and sad to say jeffers come through pretty well. and hopefully we have vaughn and anichebe that have made debuts and promising youngster in the form of vidarrson. i hope the 3 players i mentioned will be 1st team regulars
