thebluenose Posted May 30, 2006 Report Share Posted May 30, 2006 im now seriously doubting svens judgement here. he said he will pick what he thinks is the strongest team he can field but he puts carrager in the holding midfield role. he has picked 9 midfielders and one of them (carrick) is the best holding midfielder in the country and yet he picls a centre back in the holding midfield role and claims its the best team he can field. Why do we need a holding midfielder, ? if we play 4-4-2 its as good a midfield as you can get. Beckham and Cole out wide, Lampard and Gerrard will always be on the edge of the Box for the loose ball coming out. All it does when you play around with that system is weaken the attack, it just puts an extra man in a defensive mode. If we play the english way them fookin foreigners shit themselves, but we try and change our system to the way they play, and it doesnt work. They are born and bred ENGLISH players, for fook sake play the ENGLISH WAY. PS.............How the fook does that Hargreaves get into the England team, he's shit. A DM in a 451 needs to sit in front of the defense for 90 minutes, break up attacks and do nothing else. Carrick likes to roam a lot, not very obedient. King would have been perfect as a defensive midfielder (too bad he's injured), he is the best tackler in England on par with Carragher and Terry. So its no surprise that Carrick never got played. if he is to be play, then that would be in a 442 in CM where the defensive responsibilities iare minimum. And Carra was pretty decent in yesterday's game. Owen in a one up top system is not going to work, he looked average yesterday, and Walcott looked a tad overawed. I tell you with no bias, Crouch looked class yesterday, caused the defence a lot of problems and he IS going to have an excellent world cup if he gets the starts. When both of them are played in a 442, it is usually Gerrard who gets the defensive role where he isnt at his best. If another player if added in midfield, then in allows both Gerrard and Lampard to go forward whenever they wish, which does add to the attacking prowess. So, playing another striker doesnt add much to the attack because then, the central midfielders cant go forward whenever the oppurtunity arises. Beckham---Gerrard----Lampard---Cole ---Owen------------------Crouch might work against the weaker teams, but a Brazil, A Czech Republic, An Argentina, A sweden or any other team with good attacking midfielders will use the space in midfield and carve England open.
