Final Offer For Blues Striker

Recommended Posts

Everton today made James McFadden a take it or leave it offer to finally bring his long-running contract saga to a conclusion.

Having enjoyed his most consistent season since joining from Motherwell in 2003, the Scotland international first held talks with the Blues about signing a new deal in February.

Talks reached an impasse, though, and it emerged shortly after the end of the campaign that Everton had no immediate plans when McFadden turned down the club's opening gambit. There has since been a change of heart and Keith Wyness has met McFadden's representatives with considerably improved terms.

Should he put pen to paper, McFadden will stay at Goodison Park until July 2009, but it is understood that if the 23-year-old rejects this offer, Everton will not return to him for a third time.

The only reason I think Moyes didnt fuck him off after the first refusal is our lack of options up front. Anichebe and Vaughan are prospects but we cant rely on them if AJ or Beattie get injured. If we could get someone in on loan for a season and sell Mcfadden I'd take it.

I can not understand why the majority of you would like him to stay. We need to improve the quality of our squad yet we seem to often renew contracts of players who are well below premiership standards. Last season we renewed the contracts of Kilbane and Naysmith and now we are trying to keep McFadden and Weir - for a club talking about pushing for a Top 6 finish that does not make any sence.

He is one of those players that offers NO END PRODUCT and never will!!!

He wants to f#ck off

Hope moysey doesnt try to talk him out of it.

We can then get somebody in who's fit, and will play on a regular basis. ;)

If we dont we could always use Arteta on the left, Davis/Osman on the right, and Neville & Cahill in the middle, No probs.

i think he's shite and simply not good enough for the premiership .... he should consider himself luckyto get offered a new good deal and if he doesn't accept then i hope he flops and ends up in a worse position than jeffers.....

he has no talent, and he isnt good enough, id be glad to see the back of him if this is how he's going to act when he's not done much at all for us and we've stuck by him and waited and waited hoping to see something that wasn't there.... we have given him his chance. be grateful or fuck off

whilst he clearly isn't 'top' prem quality, he can still do a job on his day

sadly his day isn't often enough

but i'd rather we keep him, he's settled into the way we play and also is the only option we have after BT & AJ

Vaughan & Anichebe are at most bit part players next year, give them a go but Faddy will be needed to, and will offer, more

Only my opinion though guys!

Dont think much to that argument.

ALAN BALL.. was an England international, and a World Cup winner just months before we signed him

HOWARD KENDALL ..was signed from Preston, after he had played in a Cup Final 6 month previous, if memory serves me correctly i think he was the youngest player to play at Wembley. (at that time).

Agree with Harvey and Royle but thats going back 40 years. :)
