Romey 1878 Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/10-11/rumour-mill/index.asp We couldn't sink much lower if this is true . Quote
Louis Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 20th place is the only position that is lower? Quote
vshdesign Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) Really??!! Demerit has proved himself. He has shut down world class forwards numerous times. Sure - he is not going to save a club alone, but the addition of a world class, international player surely cannot be horrible for Everton - who is facing the Championship if something doesn't change. while the US didn't exactly fare well at the 2010 World Cup - they seem to have done a touch better than England, No? ftaylor Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Proved himself? At what point? He was excellent in the confed cup (against Spain at least) in 08 but was shit in the worldcup- He wouldn't have been shutting down world class strikers at Watford. It was mentioned a few times at the world cup that he has had some eye problems effecting his depth perception. I would MUCH rather see Duffy in there. Quote

Romey 1878 Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 If Demerit is world class then my bum hairs are made of star dust. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 that's a no then mate? Got it in one. Quote
Yakubu Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Jay DeMerit would be a ok signing if we got him in. Quote
dark Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 I'm for it, free agent and he can do a job. Quote
duncanmckenzieismagic Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 He is a very average Championship defender at best, and if he isnt good enough for Watford I dont think he is good enough for our reserves. He may well be on a free but we would still have to stump up decent money for his wages. I would be shocked if there was any truth in this rumour what so ever Quote
Romey 1878 Posted September 18, 2010 Author Report Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) I'm for it, free agent and he can do a job. Have Everton fans ambitions/expectations really been lowered this much? Edited September 18, 2010 by Romey 1878 Quote
Louis Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 http://www.toffeeweb...-mill/index.asp We couldn't sink much lower if this is true . We did though! We are foot of the league, we are foot of the league. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted September 25, 2010 Author Report Posted September 25, 2010 We did though! We are foot of the league, we are foot of the league. Ah but if you turned the league upside down then we'd be tolp . Quote
Romey 1878 Posted September 26, 2010 Author Report Posted September 26, 2010 http://www.fansfc.com/Everton/story/24900/7.html Oh no. Quote
Ten Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 http://www.fansfc.com/Everton/story/24900/7.html Oh no. For four-foot-snake! Is anyone really suprised, look at some of the shit weve taken on in the last few seasons, Anthony Gardner anyone? The ONLY positive would be a 'lucas Neill' scenario, we take him on a free n sell him at profit!? Quote
Steve_E Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 He's 30 years old as well? Then why wouldn't we just give Duffy a shot if absolutely necessary? It would be a waste of salary. I would even rather see Hibbo filling in as a centre back when two of Jagielka, Distin and Heitinga are injured. Quote
marcopaulo Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 duffy is obviously further away than thought if this is true..depressing Quote
Steve_E Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 duffy is obviously further away than thought if this is true..depressing Obviously, but is it down to Duffy's possible (?) lack of progress or Moyes reluctance to give young and inexperienced defenders a go. Quote
marcopaulo Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 i cant see moyes restricting youth to be honest with you..maybe that injury has knocked him back a couple years Quote
iggy Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 I can't see this happening tbh, just bs rumours with nothing to substantiate them. Quote
Steve_E Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 i cant see moyes restricting youth to be honest with you..maybe that injury has knocked him back a couple years I didn't mean it as Moyes "restricting youth". He didn't hesitate to give Rooney, Rodwell, Vaughan, Vic... a chance. But I think Moyes is a manager that stresses a good defensive organisation (though that's nowhere to be seen this season). He refuses to play Coleman as a right back for example, prefering the much more solid Phil Neville. That's why I thaught Moyes might be reluctant to go with inexperienced defenders. It was just a thought as well. I don't know, it's possible Duffy just isn't at the level he was before his injury. Quote
Noddy Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 i cant see moyes restricting youth to be honest with you..maybe that injury has knocked him back a couple years I don't know about a couple of years, but the injury was a horrendous one and Shane has already defied the doctors' estimations of recovery time by playing full games as early as August (accident happened late May). However, I honestly think it would be a bit much to expect him to be back at the standard he was at so soon after the injury. He's probably still 'catching up' with fitness levels. It's also important to remember that Shane is still only 18, with only 2 senior appearances for Everton (albeit with an abundance of underage international honours, as well as playing with the senior Ireland team in behind closed doors friendlies).
