He's neat & tidy on the ball (the least you would expect of a professional footballer) and can deliver a decent set-piece but thats it. He's not very creative and for somebody who plays a holding midfield role he is very poor at breaking up play and lacks aggression. He wouldn't get near the current Everton side.
