Louis
Ridsdale gets in touch Peter Ridsdale is indefatigable. When not successfully defending fraud charges (to the extent they are withdrawn even before reaching court, as revealed here) or putting together buyouts of Plymouth Argyle (with somewhat less success) then he is in the business of putting people together. This month Ridsdale made an introduction for a lawyer purportedly representing an unnamed potential football investor. The club where the introduction was made was Everton, though nothing has yet come of it. Everton frequently receive such approaches so there is nothing new there. But – contrary to the position at Argyle, where he put together a takeover bid "by default", literally and metaphorically – this time, says Ridsdale, he is not the interested party. He tells Digger he was merely "making [his] contacts book available", which after all these years is certainly a weighty tome. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/sep/27/sir-john-madejski-reading

FanchesterCity
Poor track record to say the least, BUT he's also been at some seriously struggling clubs too. Everton's far too big for him in my opinion. The be honest, the types of people coming into clubs now are just businessmen, with lots of nice phrases like "back in touch with the fans" and "back where it belongs".... it's just soundbites. They invest money with a view to a return. IF they can manage to do that with fans alongside (cos you'll fork out more money) all the better, but it's profit they want. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and success will help bring about profit (usually) - but when push comes to shove, and it's Everton vs the shareholders - there's only going to be one winner :-( Do you guys actually buy the BK line of 'waiting for the right man'? or is it a smokescreen? MikeO
Do you guys actually buy the BK line of 'waiting for the right man'? or is it a smokescreen? Opinions vary as StevO says....from "he's lining his own pockets" to "he's the best man for the job". Most are somewhere in between but we've been over it many, many times so hopefully it won't kick off again here. Do a search Fan if you're really interested. Avinalaff
Indefatigable - Now there's a word you don't hear too often. I wonder how long the writer had to wait before he could slip it in to something.

Louis
When you see his record laid out bare and then you consider that people still use him as a foot in the door in football, you have to admire his 'gift of the gab', if not anything else.
