FanchesterCity
Listened to him this morning on Talksport - shame really, he's clearly damaged by it all. I'm a bit of a cynic with Gazza though and don't believe he was actually 'THAT' great. Good player absolutely, but just how good? who knows. MikeO
Seen a lot of alcoholism from many angles....and I'd say from listening to that that he's got more drinking to do yet. He's got a few AA platitudes off pat but that's about all. Sounds just like George Best.

There's been a number of reports in the last week alone about former players 'issues' (two from ex City players!) The only think with George was that when seemingly sober - he didn't appear 'slow' Mr Gascoigne does come across as not quite with it - but his starting position wasn't particularly favourable was it? I expect he still gets morons offering to buy him a drink. So sad. Seems a nice, but foolhardly lad.
Hafnia
Read his book, I believe the word is self medicating when it comes to gazza. I'm the first to spot a person looking for excuses, but he has a myriad of mental issues ranging from OCD, tourettes, anxiety attacks the lot. Sure, many people out there suffer, but when a drug as socially acceptable as alcohol can numb the senses it is often the first port of call. Hopefully sanity, hapiness and sobriety come his way. Not sure though I'm afraid.
codders78
Gascoigne on high strength lager is probably more accurate
