A TALENTED footballer is celebrating a landmark week in his young career.

James Graham, 15, of Holywell, has been selected in the Wales Under 16s squad for matches against Switzerland and Belgium.

In the same week, he also learnt that he had been offered a two-year scholarship with Everton.

James, a Liverpool supporter, has been with the Goodison Park club since he was eight years old and is delighted to have secured his future with the Toffees.

The Ysgol Maes Garmon pupil, a centre-back, played for Everton in the Nike Cup at Warwick last week, scoring the winning goal against Arsenal before the Merseysiders were eliminated from the competition.

Now his focus turns to representing his country in Switzerland next week.

Wales U16s take on the Swiss on Tuesday before playing Belgium the next day.

The fixtures have been arranged by U16s team managerOsian Roberts as preparation for the forthcoming Victory Shield campaign.

Joining James in the squad is Edward Speed, son of late Wales boss Gary.

Edward is on Wrexham’s books and attends Abbey Gate College in Chester.
