Dont know if anyone is watching MNF but Neville is hitting the nail well and truly on the head. He is talking about Arsenal and Liverpool but the same comments apply to us.

We arent playing with a high enough intensity in defence. Not enough pressure on the ball, not getting close enough to make a challenge, no desire to turn the ball over higher up the pitch. The quicker you win the ball over, the more likely you are to catch the other side unawares creating space to attack. We do it in small spells, some times a half here or there but we need to start doing it for 90 mins week in week out. There isnt one team in the league that enjoys being aggressively pressed.

I've been sayin that since last year!

Wisdom of Graham Taylor, top pundit...

"Giroud just ran off there, didn't look at Arsene Wenger at all there as he went down the tunnel. He knew exactly what he had done there straightaway. You just have to ask, what has he done there?"

and

"I have to say this. I look where the referee was for that foul from Debuchy and he has the best possible view from five or six yards away and he makes his decision almost immediately. It w ill certainly be interesting to see what effect that goal has on the game. Will QPR press on in belief they can find an equaliser?"

No Graham, I'm pretty sure they'll settle back and try to hold on for a 2-1 loss .

BBC says that Palace are in talks with Newcastle to get Pardew. Strange one, would seem to be a backward step. Maybe he just wants to move back down south?

i thought the same thing mike! the article i read said he played there for 4 years and scored a killer goal that beat liverpool in the FA cup semis and is a hero to them. does seem a backward move, less transfer funds, smaller team, and worse team. maybe he's worried he's getting the axe.

Just watched the first half of Liverpool v Swansea. Swansea play the passing game a lot better than Everton but still have hardly had a shot at goal. Its the same with every team that plays it, it gets so wired into their brain that they don't see the killer pass or the shooting opportunity. Always looking for the easy pass, even if its back to the goalie. Shelvey passed back to his goalie from inside the Liverpool half. The sooner Martinez dumps this game the better.

Spot on John. The speed the ball was played was 100 times quicker, made a world of difference. Again though, Liverpool won because of the energy of their attacking 3; closing down, pressing as a unit and breaking/countering as a unit.

I don't want Martinez to give up completely but he needs to recognises the weakness and learn to adapt. He would do well to watch some Bundesliga

West Brom scored 7 and Swansea got 6, we could really have done with a mega easy draw in the 3rd round, no goals against and a hatrick each for Lukaku, Naismith and kone.....you know a really easy game.

No matter who we'd got we'd find it tough currently. We'd have struggled if we'd got Dover.

Moyes taking on Barcelona, and Sociadad take the lead after two minutes :o.

Everyone behind the ball amigos!!

Messi and Neymar on the bench.

Brilliant defending! He can't half set up a team to defend a lead against a better team (unfortunately he often applies this against lesser teams too and pays!)
