Romey 1878
i think jags is officially back - and looking quite spry out there. And he's chipping in with a few goals. Something our cb's have been quite poor at for a few years.

His recovery has improved much this season.
Elston Gunnn
Jagielka appeared to limp off the pitch when substituted for near end of Slovenia match. Hope it's truly minor, and that he doesn't play v. Scotland.

MikeO
http://www.bluekipper.com/news/players_news/7826-jagielka_in_sight_of_alan_balls_england_cap_record.html Think to say that his partnership with Cahill is established as first choice is a bit of a stretch; he was dropped after the WC with Jones partnering Cahill, only Jones getting injured has put him back in. Shukes
Not sure about that MikeO. Stats suggest that Cahill and Jags make a great partnership.
MikeO
Not sure about that MikeO. Stats suggest that Cahill and Jags make a great partnership. Fact is that Jags was on the bench for the first two games after the World Cup, the friendly v Norway and the (vital we thought at the time) opening Euros qualifier in Switzerland. No question that Hodgson would pick his first choice XI for the Switzerland game and Jags wasn't in it, he got back in due to Phil Jones being injured. It's not even open to debate . Shukes
That's fair enough :-) Saw it a little more that Jags was out of forn and deserved to be dropped but is now back to his normal self, but I do love Jags so I'm a bit biased haha
Guest blueboy122
Got to agree it's quite clear Hodgson doesn't see Jags as first choice. On merit he probably should because he's better than Jones in my opinion.
Shukes
Not sure it's clear to he honest. He has more appearances than Jones over the last few years and only got dropped when he had a drop on form. To be honest I think that's what a manager should do, drop a player who is out of form? Yeah he's the man in possession now and unless he screws up big time he'll stay in the team. Think he was unfairly scapegoated after the WC personally, Hodgson giving in to the usual "media pick the team" bollocks.
Shukes
Ye didn't see what he did wrong at the WC but only takes one comment and then everyone picks up on it, bit like the L word haha...oops I said it.
Romey 1878
Jags was dropped due to form but that begs the question why it was Jones that came in for him when he was in shocking form himself for United. Not to mention he's fucking garbage.

Romey 1878
Let's be honest he's right. Let's be honest; there's no one better to take his place so he is good enough. You can only choose what's available. It's not Jags' fault that the standard of English players is low.
MC11
He's not saying its Jagielkas fault....He's saying the influx of foreign players has made it this way. I agree with him.
GoodisonRoad
Not sure why he single's out Jags. Is Glen Johnson deemed fit for International football? Likewise Jack Wilshire. Could name a fair few that arent good enough. But like Romey said, Jags is by far the best option England have at CB (Miles ahead of Jones and Smalling) so what else can we do? tonyh
Not much of what he says makes much sense. 'There are too many foreign players so English players don't get opportunities' – maybe, but Jagielka has managed to get loads of games in the Premier League. So doesn't that mean he must be good enough? And Chris Sutton managed a single cap, by the way. In a period where there were a lot less foreign players in the league. What does that say about him? Matt
1 game. 4 total this season where he's turned up. We're screened if he stays our 'leader'. He's a good defender but if he wants to maintain the C armband, he needs to lead by example more than 1/

Btay
Another year or so and maybe besic..gonna be massive that boy I would personally have McCarthy or Naismith before Besic... Not to say Besic wouldn't make a good captain but his game needs to develop for the next few years
