Guest Nikica Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 The technological kind, not the painkillers or that shit that rots your teeth. Do you have one? I bought a 16 GB Nook HD+ last week and it's been lovely. It didn't read my .cbr comics, but I bought an app named 'comicat' for £1.99 and it plays everything I can throw at it - lovely interface too. The wireless is pretty decent as I have fibre - I have ethernet to my PC and wireless to the Nook. It also plays video files well, and is ideal for reading books etc too (I plan to go through my old uni books and perhaps read 'Inverting the Pyramid' by Jonathan Wilson). I also watched Iran vs Nigeria on it via BBC iplayer live to test it. It worked well. Netflix etc also works great. I bought another app for £0.88 which lets me transfer files wirelessly from my PC, and I've also started using the usb cable to do it that way. You can also buy a miniSD card to add more storage. Loving this tablet thus far. I prefer it to a phone as I don't call or text much and the screen on the tablet is bigger. Quote
Matt Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 got tricked into buying an iPad (no idea what version) and its ok. Hate touchscreen typing so bought a cover with bluetooth keyboard which makes it a bit better. Only thing I really use it for is controling the stereo setup, easily selecting which music I want to hear via youtube or spotify and occaisonal footy if nothing else is available (PS3, laptop). Other than that, prefer the laptop. Quote

I like the PC and the PS3 as well, but the tablet will really come on handy for reading my comics and using Marvel Unlimited app as it's very light and the screen isn't much smaller than an actual comic book - it's about 9-10 inches (oo-er). I used to hold my laptop sideways and read them that way - bigger screen but very heavy and not comfortable to hold really. I now have my laptop hooked up to my PC monitor as my 2008 desktop is fucked at the moment. It's very handy and is relatively cheap too at about £130. Edited June 20, 2014 by Nikica Quote
Newty82 Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 I've had a Samsung galaxy 10.1 for a few years I think. Although I don't get much time on it as my 2 year old is always watching YouTube or now Netflix! Funny though, I had never updated it. So a couple of month ago I decided to run an update having realised I had never done one. Took hours. Once finished it felt like I had a brand new tablet...amazing. It was a total overhaul. All this technology though is running away from me. I can't keep up. Crazy. Quote

The kids love these sorts of things don't they? My little cousin was on my Nook yesterday and he has his own as well - they can't get enough of it. Yeah, updating is a great idea if it is going slow. I loaded lots of stuff onto it in the first few days, and it slowed up. I just install a cache cleaning app and removed some stuff and it sped right up again. It's magic. You're right about technology being difficult to keep pace with - everything is improved upon continually. The people who develop these things must be geniuses. Edited June 22, 2014 by Nikica Quote
