thebluenose
well who should be captain
Adams
Firstly we are talking about this assuming that Weir or Stubbs wont be captain next season. Despite my own opinion that if Yobo and Lescott play well pre-season they should get the nod against Watford, i honestly believe one of Weir or Stubbs will start, probably alongside Yobo with Lescott on the bench. If thats the case its all academic. If on the other hand they don't i think Moyes will choose Neville. i for one would have to agree for the following reasons; firstly there is no-one who stands out as a leader in what most of us would pick as a first team, secondly Neville is one of our most experienced players and younger more in-experienced look to him for guidence, thirdly Neville is English, fourthly when you don't have a natural leader like John Terry you often look to players who lead by example which Neville always does (as does Beattie usually), fifthly anyone who watches week in week out at Goodison see's and hears Neville organising, encouraging and typifying the way we have played for the last decade or more. Theres one problem though will he start? Well if he dosnt then who will it be then? I was thinking Hibbert but then he isnt likely to start against Watford due to a injury so first game i think that Yobo will start with either yobo/Weir so i think wich either one of yobo/weir starts first game of season will be captain. i know people will pick holes in one point or another but for anyone who doesn't hate Neville because he played for Man Utd i'd hope they agree with most of my reasons but like i said hes unliky to start, so i think the captain role will be mixed this season but i would like to see tim cahill with it, always trying giving it his all (unlike bt) and is a good englisgh speaker, so i think the captains role will be mixed but i would like cahill to have it. But wen Hibberts fit i would want him to be are captain Edited August 4, 2006 by Adams

Zed
forget VDM. he wont be in Moysey's plans this season, or any season. 43380[/snapback] I dont think moyes has got a choice, the limp bastards never going to be fit PHIL NEVILLE ALL DAY EVERY DAY Although, I think hes one of those guys you dont need to make captain. He will do a captains job anyway so, with that said, I'd like it to be Tim Cahill, might just make a man of him Edited August 4, 2006 by Zed
Neil
it has to be nev for me but out of curiousty has cahill ever been captain at millwall or for australia i only ask because i think he could be a good choice

StevO
Neville for me, but as Zed said Neville will do a capts job regardless, so we could use it as an oportunity to bring someone forward a bit, maybe Yobo or Hibbert if we were doing this
Adam
Pistone all the way as captain for me................... However if not going to start then I would like to see Hibbo get it but think Neville will be the best at it as he seems very vocal when on the pitch

Adam
I don't predict a 3 v 1 loose with Pistone scoring cos it helps us win. I honestly beleive that we are going to lose every game 3 v 1 this season with Pistone scoring all the goals. Top goalscorer for Pistone this season. CraccerC
hibbert i voted after everything i've said,, thinkign recently, i think he deserves it more, he's quite vocal and i don't like neville, i wouldn't start him, but with hibbert out for the start blah, might aswell give it nevilel for a few games
Bluetrip
There's only three realistic options Moyes will consider; Weir, if he thinks he should get a game over Lescott (I don't) and if he drops him it will be Neville. If Weir or Neville's out or injured it will be Stubbs in that order.

Adam
Seems to me that Weir is going to be captain next season. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/weir...r-kick-off.html
Romey 1878
For fuck sake someone needs to smack Moyes over the head so he has a reality check. Weir isnt good enough so he shouldnt be getting in the first team unless there are injuries. Why buy a young centre back and play that old bastard instead. StevO
i doubt they will openly say that Weir is being stipped of the captaincy, but i doubt he will play most games anyway
Mac
Can we say that Weir is being stripped of the armband when there is a very real chance that he will be unable to play week in week out?. Stop dicking around and let the fan base know, because I'm pretty certain the players know who will lead them this season. ATB Mac
CraccerC
^ spot on, i think they will know too. But a good point from StevO, i'm not sure that they'd openly say he's been stripped, because its almost demoralising, i think they may leave things, but because he won't play a lot we'll mostl ikely see neville take on the armband most of the time
